With the rules and separate guidance notes there are 170 pages to assimilate and the 2 docs are “to be read side by side.” I’m relieved I stepped back from h/c comm end of last year and I’ll b slow to criticise having to implement this with software that will inevitably have glitches.

When your sec is actively emailing members saying the slope is wrong for the course (becaus he doesn't agree with it as it's too low) nothing to do with the fact he doesn't understand that slope.. and that we are medium range because of lack of water for one and fact that we punish good golfers and poor golfers so the gap between them would be more even than a course where a scratch golfer would tear it apart

Hopefully the charge disappears now whs is here

I hope things turn round soon with our handicap sec I'm not a fan at all with the way he goes about doing things.

Appreciate things take time but I'd like my handicap sec to have an understanding of whs and slope.

Your Sec should be working as part of a team, 3 people min. If that’s not the case he is operating outside of EG rules for handicapping.

Hi Paul..... I commented on the Supps thread but its better on here.......
I've seen your comments in another thread that they're wanting the £3 for Casual Rounds. We used to charge that but dropped it prior to WHS to encourage folk to submit Supplementaries. Lots of folk did. We also have 3 Q Comps a week & are wondering how many Members will submit Casual Rounds rather than entering the Comps & as a result, the Club lose revenue for teams etc.
With the App entry available rather than signing-in in the Pro-Shop there is no way of ensuring the £3 is paid especially as scores from the App or PSI do not need to be 'ratified' by the H/cap team. I'd think that this is why they've 'turned off' the Casual Round facility........ by doing such I'd think they'd be in danger of being 'excluded' from WHS as the ability to submit EVERY round for H/cap is a core element of WHS. We're encouraging Members to put lots of cards in but, like your guys, wondering how it may impact on revenue from Comps.

He apparently is, however never hear from other 2. I suspect he does it all and it just gets round rules

Ahhh... so revenues for the Club shouldn't be the issue then..... most strange that he should be strangling General Play rounds. Most peculiar

This was pre covid

Since whs he hasn't accepted any general play

And refuses too until the 12th due to "covid rules"

Yet 29th march comps could run again so just be honest and say don't wanna accept yet

Bug bear of mine blaming covid for poor service .. so many companies blame covid but you know what.. you service was poor before covid!

It would appear that he has 'Issues'....... sadly that's the hardest to deal with... keep us advised as it's sad that such folk are running things.

I haven’t pushed the button on HDID, but it looks like it accommodates entering a social score - presumably the h/c sec has to “accept” the score for it to drop into the players h/c record?

Negative on IG front it just goes straight to handicap with zero checking

I accidently did a score Monday and got it removed because it clicked it and thn I had to enter a score so I just pressed NR and left but gave me 76 for the day lol

Got cut

He removed it with the reply

Hi Paul,

As requested I have deleted the score on 29th March.

I see you also have a scorecard added 30th March. As per my previous e-mail (due to COVID restrictions still in place) we are not accepting general play scorecards until Monday 12th April.

I will advise shortly if we need to remove this scorecard as well.

"Social Scores

From Monday 12th April (when the leisure facilities reopen) if you so wish, you will be able to enter Social Scorecards into Intelligent Golf via the touchscreen in reception or via the Intelligent Golf App (More detail to follow in coming days)."

That was reference an email sent out the Thursday before which we still haven't been enlightened to the process

Tbh the blokes useless.

You need to stop him being useless. Tell him straight that you will be contacting county ref his actions as he has no authority (unless the course doesn’t comply) to stop any Q casual rounds. Really muck him about and do some 9 holes as well, I suspect he might be the kind of person that has failed to register the 9 hole courses.

Our 9 hole course is registered , the front 9 anyways not the back

But then we aren't overly allowed to tee off from the back 9 so prob why .. only when it suits the club

My next round will be the 13th so after the 12th so I'm out of that game lol but I will be making sure the 30th stays

Played with 2 members

Followed all rules of golf

Played decent aswell

@2blue @Old Skier

I mean this is what we have to deal with

This was sent out 17th march

For one .. still banging the drum that slope is wrong .. telling the members it's wrong

Then this on social scores

"Social Scores

When I put in my card I got this quoted back to me aswell

Now what gets my goat is this was 17th march and "more details to follow in coming days"

It's the 5th of April!!!! We are nearer the cards being able to go in (by his rules) than the 17th march so why haven't we been told the process?

Can you explain how the last sentence of the "Slope Rating Appeal" paragraph works?

No problem

Our course is one of the hardest in the area, so because of the misunderstanding of slope by the handicap sec (and a lot from general golfers in some places) we should get more shots on our handicap at our course than an easier course down the road (we spoke about this before)

The perception is our course is hArdsr and we get a lower handicap than an easier course

Our course rating is 74 and theirs is 69 for example on par 72

We have been through this before how it works but it fell on deaf ears when I tried to explain to the handicap sec who is still appealing

I can fully understand our slope rating

The course is tough. It punishes stratch and bogey golfers the same .. a lost ball will punish you and it's easy to lose one etc .. so the rating is lower as the difference between difficulty between scratch and bogey is lower

Where as the course I've used for the other example rated 69 for course rating will be harder for the bogey golfer but a scratch golfer would shoot par easier .. so higher slope

In my research I found if golf England had used course ratings in handicap formula (like USA does now) it would be the other way round ie our course would get the higher handicap

Again it's been missed by Kevin.
