Surely cards have to be checked at some point, via photo/scan or hard copy..?
We've all seen or heard of people marking cards incorrectly, inputting scores incorrectly and generally making a hash of it.
To solely rely on someone's data entry skills is madness..

IG app requires you to take a photo of your scorecard with signatures which then gets aligned to your card. If the scorecard isn’t there then it’s not counted.

Ah I see, would a geolocation on your phone do the same? I know golf England app won't let you start a round unless your near the club and is time sensitive so won't let you sign it off until 2 hours after you signed in

Psi screen sounds fine just only concern would be amount of people in one area at a time using it

We have 2 screens in 2 separate locations both in well ventilated areas close to entrances and may have another one when the clubhouse opens.

With 9 minutes between games plenty of time sign in or to record score on one if you have not done via you phone and the card is simply dropped in to the box under the screen.

Do you have to sign it before you head off and then return your score via it

Would you be able to sign in via it then do score in app and hand back the card ?

Just seen the updated score entry on the EG app, if I hadn’t read this thread wouldn’t have realised they had now added this even though I knew it was coming. Not seen any communication from EG on the updated app.

That seems completely sensible. I'd be all for that providing it's electronic . That's fine.

Many clubs won’t have the people to sort all that out so will wait until cards can be used again which will be soon enough

It does sound good tho, sounds like it's got some measures to try and prevent dishonest behaviour

That's why I'm pushing the new system. I will not be handing over money for something that can be done without his input.

You do know there are still some processing to be done on the backend with confirmations from handicap Secretaries

I personally have no problem with electronic entry, will save me a few hours every comp. Cheats will always cheat and I think over time more of the sceptics will adopt the system.

You do know there are still some processing to be done on the backend with confirmations from handicap Secretaries

As stated before under the new golf England app there won't be any processing to be done by clubs with the new system when the app is fully live (please read my copy and pasted post a few posts back)

Plus even if he needs to check the score it's not something they should charge for.

I used to charge a quid but was told by county not to do it, the quid went to the juniors section.

No junior section

Not even to the prize fund

For comps and general play cards you must sign in before your tee time (it is timecoded) you can sign via the IG app or via the PSI screen. You can submit scores via the app or via the PSI screen. Cards are put in the box beneath the PSI screen.

For comps you score your own card but must have the markers name on the card with their score in the markers column and verbally agree the scores Not sure of current procedure for General Play cards as it used to be photo via the app and at one time the markers signature was required but that was nearly a year ago.

With the rules and separate guidance notes there are 170 pages to assimilate and the 2 docs are “to be read side by side.” I’m relieved I stepped back from h/c comm end of last year and I’ll b slow to criticise having to implement this with software that will inevitably have glitches.

Given that the whole thing can now be done with just a cursory glance by a sec I cannot see the justification for a charge. When the sec had to input the scores I could.
