Supplementary card submission question.

Are there any reasons why a club can restrict or refuse the submissions of supp cards?

I know you are only allowed up to 10 a year unless you are a CAT 1 player.

My question is can a club just allow supp cards for players who have let their handicaps lapse?

Possibly, if there was a comp running at the same time ie a midweek medal, i wouldn't think you could enter a supplementary.

I understand that you cant play a supplementary during a competition...you might as well play the comp anyway.

My purpose of playing a supp card would be to get the chance to play for hc as family circumstances have limited medal play during the year.

The club cannot refuse to allow you to submit Supplementaries provided you meet the requirements of the scheme i.e. measured course, card marked and signed, round notified in advance of playing.

A maximum of 10 Supplementary Scores may be returned per annum. Supplementary Scores are
limited to one per week, unless your golf club decides otherwise.

Is that last bit a bit that the clubs can use to refuse the use of them?

I read it as generally you can put in one per week unless the club allows more.

No, what that means is that the club could decide to let you play more than one in the same week if it wanted to.

not sure I understand the nuances between an understanding and an interpretation but it is what I was advised in a conversation with the previous gentleman responsible for handicapping at England Golf!

I can confirm that this is the ruling given by the current incumbent of that job at a meeting I attended..

Interesting as, unless there has been an upgrade to the Club2000 software I use you cannot do more than 1 card in a week.

I think you have to change a setting and define 'a week'. Sunday thru Sat (say) or 7 consecutive days from the last card.

Thanks, I'll give it a go although we don't get many.

Our club limits to one per wk but software seems ok - as has been said, a tweak in options (and perhaps note to club comms people if that sorts it as others may be having similar struggle!)
