Could anybody tell me how to stop a pitch shot (or iron shot) quickly on the green?
And bringing it to another level...how do you spin the ball back? I could be asking to much of me as I doubt I hit it centre most of the time

Hit it better! :D

I only ever get backspin when I hit out of bunkers, but its not enough backspin to get the ball rolling back, it just pitches, takes another hop, and then stops dead.

I have no idea how I do it, or why I cant do it when I use the same club (my 60* wedge) on the fairway or wherever.

I'd love to know how to get backspin from the fairway, I have a sneaky suspicion its got something to do with me not taking enough of a divot!

1. Soft Ball.
2. Soft Greens.
3. Good grooves (Spin Milled Vokeys et al)
4. Hard Strike.
5. Good Strike ( Clubface down into back of ball before turf.)

Having said all that, there is no point in it ripping back 8' on the green, if it landed 8' short anyway !!

I'm happy if they simply take one bounce and then stop dead.

Yep...and if you hit it as gently as me, you still won't get much spin.....one bounce, two bounces and maybe back to the first bounce :)

I hit a peach into our short par 3 the other day.
Full-out vokey SW, Titleist proV1, hit it a sweet as a nut, perfect divot, dead-centre strike.
One bounce 5 yards short, another 12 inches short, ended up by the first pitch mark. If I'd used my normal ball, it would have been a tap in! :) shame :D
