Williams has now caddied on 14 Major Wins
What difference has he made to Adam Scott's game
Or has he just been in the right place at the right time

Ego the size of a planet, it appears, but clearly a great caddy.

After he was so ignominiously fired by TW, who thought that he would carry the bag of another major winner before someone would carry his old boss's?

Coulda/shoulda happened at The Open last year, but that near miss probably helped Adam Scott yesterday.

I agree that he would not have let his boss hit the penalty shot at 15, either.

I don't think he gets the gig for his witty banter and likeable personality!!:D

He's made a difference to Adam Scott. Wasn't the stat shown that Scott has finished around top 20 or better in the last 5-6 majors ?(sounds vague, I've forgotten the specifics)

It would be interesting to compare the major performance before big Steve.

Like him or loathe him (Steve Williams), it's no coincidence that Adam Scott's a major champion, do agree that last years miss at the open helped AS, made for great TV last night.

He has to take a private jet just to get his ego on board.

But there can't be any denying Scott's form has upturned in the majors and big events since they started working together perhaps just a case of where Williams has done it all with Woods it has helped Scott knowing he has someone with knowledge to draw on.

I like it yesterday when you could hear the 2 of them on the fairway and Scott was unsure about his decision, you could clearly hear Williams say to "him no Adam you've made a good choice that is the shot 100%, 100% the shot you got this". That to me was the sign of a good bag man, Scott left the shot short but his caddy gave him the confidence in his decision regardless he was right to trust himself and can pull it off.

I think maybe it was Butch last night that said now Adam Scott has one major he can see him win a few. I'd agree with this, having released the pressure of not having won before I feel he'll be really ready and relaxed for the future. He'll no longer be referred to as one of the best players in the world without a major. And he's shaken off that tag at quite a young age so should have plenty more chances. I wouldn't be overly surprised to see him pick up another major in 2013

He may a thoroughly unlikeable individua but there's no doubt he's a quality Caddy who has made a difference to Scott.
As has been said, you don't caddy in 14 Major wins by accident.

Exactly. You are going to need a big ego to tell multi millionaire sportsmen what to do surely? Im pretty sure hes not bothered what people think and i doubt i would bother if i was that good at making money by telling people what to do :)

Arguably the best caddie in the game, well, on majors won anyway :D

Hawkeye and Imurg said you don't caddy 14 major wins by coincidence. From what I see of how caddies and players interact the caddie is a prett valuable member of that partenership. Not just for giving the player the confidence, but all the back ground work they do.

Yes, he's not to everyones taste, but no doubt he's a fantastic caddy.

he's obviously an excellent caddie, not a fan of his off course antics but that's off course!

I thought he conducted himself well during the Masters and especially at the end where he showed respect by ensuring Adam and Angel congratulated each other first.

Top caddy for sure.

Forgetting his inoportune comments, from which he seems to be learning from.

Reckon he's top bloke too having seen him in and around our local town in NZ when he's down for the speedway car racing , happy to chat over a pie the one day I bumped into him last year.

Did he? I thought he ran straight to Adam before he'd even had much of a chance to celebrate himself? Memory could serve me wrong though but I recall thinking it was so typical that he jumped in so fast...

adam scott won through his talent, hard work, and experience from the open
a major has been long overdue

steve carried the clubs well and may have told adam commit to the shot at the right time, imho

Lets not forget the massive error he made at the Open allowing Scott to hit the wrong club (3w) off the tee into the bunker (shouldve been short or bombed the Driver over it!) and did very little to help Scott then when it went wrong. Little credit to the caddie for me, huge kudos to the player for backing up and winning a major so soon after the Open meltdown

he may have, i've probably missed a few other of his other duties

calling steve williams a "king maker" is going way to far imho..

Caddies carry bags, clean clubs and give yardages. Their value is overstated, by the players too!

They don't hit the shots.

Would someone be kind enough to educate me as to why he is not liked? This is the guy who wrote the kiss and tell about Tiger ye? Is this why he is not liked?
