Just had my half year review!

In the meeting my boss says the company are willing to pay £40/month towards my golf membership! Obviously it's taxable but still that's the best part of half annual fees being paid for me!

Any jobs going

Play off 16, willing to travel

That's a great result!! Why do you think they have done that?

Think it's a combination of a few things.

When I started here 12 months ago the accounting systems and cashflow management were shocking (they're not now!)
The company is about to acquire 2 other companies so there's some heavy work ahead.
It's a company benefit after 3 years service to get half of your gym membership paid so they've only really bent the rules to allow my golf membership and after only 1 year!

Lovely of them to recognise your hard work and reward it!

its the way all companies should be, treat people the way you would like to be treated yourself:thup:

My last company paid my fees and joining fee for a new club I wanted to join:whoo:

Live in Kent willing to change jobs!...

Now thats how to look after and keep employees

It's an easy win - It's going to cost the company a hair under £500/year and I'm sat at my desk beaming mate!

It's surprising what a difference there is between the following two sentences - (1) We're going to give you a £480 a year pay rise, and (2) We're going to pay £40 per month towards your golf membership!

£40 a month for them is easier than giving you an actual pay rise, and it keeps you happy. a happy employee, is a productive employee! a company i was at before were very clever in giving little touches rather than pay rises, guys into cars got Imprezza's as company cars, gym memberships etc..

Happy days though, its nice to know that you are appreciated and thought of!!!

having a good boss is what makes going to work a little easier,my boss is also an old friend and a member of my golf club,i have known him for over 40 years and have played golf with him for most of those years,we play in 3 or 4 corporate comps per year (not this year sadly) the business get points for the boilers we fit and these are used for holidays and golf weekends away,he also pays for us to play in a few pro/am comps at some top courses and using the contacts i have made often get invites to play at courses around the country all free and gratis,in short it great having a boss as a mate and who plays golf.

& with a boss like that I'm sure you go the extra mile when needed. On the other hand if your boss is a complete t#Â¥t you'd think why do I bother??

Wish we could do that sort of thing, we are unable to take any benefits through work as we would breach Schedule 1 which rules freebies out. Cant even take up the offer of free football game tickets or corporate golf days. But saying that we get free health insurance, full gym memberships with pool access, discounted shopping vouchers, childcare vouchers etc. etc . etc

Pity I'm pretty healthy, live miles from work so don't use the gym's near work where the benefit is, hate swimming and cant be bothered with the voucher process. But great offers and benefits. I'd rather like others get a choice and subs paid would make my day.

Fantastic, unsure if I am more happy for you or more happy that their is a firm who have acknowledge that small things make big (positive) impacts to their staff.
