Solo golf trips for a few days, looking for recommendations

It's my 30th at the end of the month, and I have loads of unused annual leave at work. Been thinking for a while about doing a solo trip abroad somewhere and taking the clubs, but I've never done anything like that before and so I'm a little bit apprehensive.

There are solo trips you can book onto but I imagine a lot of the cost there is just for the admin and organising. I really don't care if I play solo or I'm paired up with people, I'd just like to play golf and lounge by a pool.

So if you were in my position, where would you look? Any particular areas/hotel/course combinations?

Looking at the end of November/ start of December. I don't really have a particular budget in mind as I don't know what these things cost!

I look forward to your suggestions :)

I'd recommend Turkey (Belek). Decent weather at that time of year. Plenty of courses and I've done holidays with the family where I've just went and played myself no problem. Never been paired up.

This is tough without a budget.

How important is the weather? If you want to be lounging around the pool in December then Dubai, Thailand, Dominican Republic, Barbados, Cancun, South Africa.

Need to know:
Budget.
How long a flight time you'd like.
Coldest and warmest temperature you'd like.

Good points raised by all. Perhaps too late in the year for lounging by a pool without going halfway round the world, I'll concede! What I mean really is I don't need to be on the go all the time.

For budget, let's say £1500, two grand absolute tops.

Temps - 18C +

Flight time - doesn't really matter, but I suppose I had the four-hour mark at the upper end in my head. The longer I'm away, the longer I'll tolerate on the flight.

Tenerife a good shout? This all really depends on how things line up time-wise - birthday is on the 30th and I don't really want to be away for it, as I'll be on my own and that'll be a bit of a downer. A four or five day trip just either side of that is what I have in mind

Moon Palace resort, nr Cancun .

27 holes. Lots of everything else.
Good shout, we got stuck there for a few days when the UK locked down the first time - all the Americans had left as they were shutting the borders. We had the whole resort to ourselves - surreal.

Tenerife is about the same temperature as Dubai, but about an hour and a half closer flight time.

Avoid the North of the island, as it's likely the wettest part, and coastal areas tend to be warmer than inland.

I’d still recommend Belek. Loads of courses to choose from so you aren’t stuck playing the same ones over and over.

£1500 will get you a week’s all inclusive and your golf, try a company like Bilyana to sort it out, used them loads and never had an issue.

Sueno Golf hotel is a good central base.

Yee bloody haw. A good place for lazing about and doing absolutely nothing, outside of a bit of golf. I saw a couple of gators in the lakes on the course too. Lots of very loud Americans there but if you're going by yourself, you'll find it pretty easy to make friends with them.

It's probably a problem budget wise and definitely a problem flight time wise, but Moon Palace is a good suggestion imo.

Southern Spain, if you don’t want to go too far. Pick somewhere that has a few golf courses locally then search for golf societies in that area. Contact the organisers and ask if they have room on x, y, z dates. You’ll get the golf a bit cheaper and you’ll have people to play with.

One of the societies I played with played an away course on a Wednesday and their home course on a Saturday. Mix and match the societies and you’ll get consecutive days golf + the benefit of a few beers/food back in their ‘home’ town/resort afterwards.

This.

Personally, I'd go on Facebook and find some popular pages close to the area I was looking at, and ask the question there.

If the OP want's some contacts with people I know that run a few societies I'd be happy to oblige from the area we lived in.

Tenerife, Golf del Sur or Adeje and find courses in the areas surrounding. Only 10 minutes to Golf del Sur in a taxi and some nice hotels but a few bars and restaurants close by. Fairly chilled at this time
