Thinking of going back to Sky as I'm cheesed off with the lack of HD content on FreeSat.
If I do go back I want to get a Sports Channel. Which is the best one to go for if I have no interest in footie? One or two?
I will only be interested in Golf and Formula 1 (although I can get that anyway on BBC1)...

Golf is usually on SS2 but they move it around thereby forcing us to get all the sports channels - no surprises there, I hate Sky.

I want multiroom as I'm fed up having to suffer ladies tv Lark Rise to Candleford or equivalent every Sunday evening just as the back 9 on Sunday starts on the PGA tour but Sky want £10/month extra for nothing basically. Money grabbing schisters so they are.

Everything tends to be spread out across all channels (maybe not 4 or extra whatever its called these days). They do this in an effort to get you to subscribe to the full sports package. Whatever one you pick you will miss out on something you want to see at some point

You know you can watch your SKY on the computer if you're struggling? As long as you have a subscription.
Try it, it works fine for me.

I looked into that Atticus but they said in order to view on the laptop I needed to have Sky multiroom too. That just seemed really tight from Sky - unimpressed, there's no real customer service, they just want money.
If you want to amend your Sky package on Sky online they only let you add channels, not take any away. If you do want to remove any and pay less you have to deal with someone in their call centre doing everything they can to dissuade you, you have to say no about 50 times! Don't like. :D

I am hacked off that I have movies, and all the sports (not ESPN though), and I still won't be able to watch Pacific when it starts, as it will only be on Sky movies HD. It looks amazing.

I know it was shot in HD, but surely they could put it on normal sky for those of us paupers without HD. I can't see anyone buying HD, just because of one program.

Only 10 people in the whole flippin country will be able to see it.

Sorry BM, when I first read your reply, I swear it read "I looked into that Atticus but they said in order to view on the laptop I needed to have Sky too." My brain must have omitted "multiroom"

Makes sense I suppose, otherwise no-one would get multiroom when they can just pop into the kitchen or whatever with the laptop.

Please god don't let this be true. This is going to be the TV event of the decade and I don't have HD.

HD programming can and is shown on non-HD channels all the time. Not in HD, obviously. The HD channels mirror the non-HD channels, so programming is the same on each.

I ended up with all the channels as a lot of the sport gets shoved onto SS3 or 4 particularly if it overrruns. I also got another box in the bedroom for £10 per month to stop the arguments over soap v sport

I hate them with a passion. Wrote a letter of complaint last October as could complain online.

Didn't even get a response.............

I hate paying for it but do watch a lot of sport and documentaries so suffer in silence

Buy an AV sender. Works a treat with me.

£25 from Tesco.

Looked at the schedule for SS2 and golf is on till late(different tours etc) so i would recommend that channel. You could just leave SS and spend your free time on practising your golf game ;)

I get the impression from Sky's web site, and also from the TV ads, that Pacific will be the first major diversion between normal sky and HD. I genuinely think Pacific will be broadcast initially in HD only. This will really hack me off.

I am going HD in June, but can't til then. Too late.

I've just recently upgraded my package to combine tv, broadband and phone. £67 per month with the sports package, unlimited calls and unlimited broadband and there giving me an HD box, new dish etc but I will only get the free HD chanels for £15 installation.

Anyone else got this with sky and is it any good?
