Just watched sporting greats that I sky+ the other night on Seve, just over a year ago that he died but what a legend. I wasn't as into golf when he was in his prime than I am now so didn't follow him that closely but see this made me realise what a player he was. His style, his swing, that celebration, his passion for the game, his competitiveness - just briilaint to watch and such an entertainer.

Any memories or opinions on the man?

Great memory of him at the seve trophy in the heritage here in ireland .. sir Nick didnt pick any irish to play so hardly anyone turned up to it , so we that did got very close access.. anyhow..

Seve was on his buggy awaiting a group on the 18 he asked us in the crowd had we seen the highlights of the american golf the night before , he stood up on the buggy telling the story , faldo turned to him to say the guys were playing their approaches , he shouts down the fairway , guys one moment please & finished the story & then shouted , ok now you play .. everyone broke out laughing ..precious moment , he had time for everyone that few days , as did himenez & marcus brier , the europeans were great .. GB&I were knobs .. esp monty & faldo

Saw him playing a practice round at Turnburry in the mid 80's. He was head and shoulders above those that were playing with him. He was brilliant on TV, but in real life WOW!!

For shear excitement; Seve, Greg Norman & Tiger.

I have a framed sequence of A4 photos of that celebration at St. Andrews. Any time I am feeling a bit down after a round or uninspired about practice I can look at those pictures and regain the focus to go out and achieve my goals, golf or otherwise.

I was a keen junior golfer when Seve burst onto the scene in 1976 at Birkdale. Suddenly my stuffy old man's sport had a new young hero! And he wasn't an American.

Seve made golf cool and exciting no doubt about it. He always had something special about him right from that first moment.

Fast forward a decade and a half. Seve has become a legend but his best is behind him. Thanks in part to Seve Europe's golfers now rule the roost. I make a trip to Wentworth to watch the PGA Championship. Who to follow? Faldo was in his pomp, double Open and Masters champion. Try him first. Impressive but dull. He's in his bubble doing his job. The gallery is respectful and hushed. Does he even know we're there?

OK how about Seve. The one and only Seve, not the player he once was, after a couple of recent failures down the stretch in the Masters, but got to take this chance to watch the incomparable Spaniard.

Wow! Charisma, sorry, I mean CHARISMA! That flashing smile when he hit a good shot, those outrageous recoveries and some awesome golf to produce a 65 that we didn't just watch but felt a part of. He went on to beat Monty in a play off that year.

Great golfer, great man. We miss you.

I was 7 when he won The Open at St Andrews and was fortunate enough to be there. Even now, seeing footage of that celebration gives me a lump in my throat.

He's my favourite golfer ever by a country mile. Our house used to come to a standstill when he was on tv. My dad loved him, I loved him, my mum fancied him - whenever he came on the tv, she'd say "I wish your dad looked like that". I'd look at my dad to see if he was upset but he just smiled. I pretty sure he wished he looked like that too.

I wasn't that into golf when he was in his prime, but he is still my favourite ever golfer. Having seen highlights of the genius at work, I can only dream about some of the shots he played.

An absolute legend of the game, and I am proud to say I have played on one of his top rated designed courses in Spain and you can see why he was so good with how that plays.

R.I.P Seve - Gone but never forgotten!!

watched him play Gleneagles and Royal Troon, his pro partners tee shots were excellent, Seve's were stunning, you could hear and see the difference in flight............I still cant believe he's actually gone:(

Like many here i got into golf through watching Seve in his prime. Couldnt believe that a game i percieved as 'dull' could be played with such passion, was lucky enough to see him play a few times, loved every second of it. Csnt beleive its a year already since we lost him.

R.I.P. Seve gone but never forgotten

Seve's also the reason why I took up the game,I remember watching him when I was a kid and thinking he made golf look like fun so I tried it for myself.I actually saw Seve playing just the once at the Benson And Hedges Tournament at The Oxfordshire course this was back in 98 or 99 when he's game was on the decline,I remember the guy had this amazing aura about him like one of those people who you think whatever they did they would do it better than most.Where are the Seve's nowdays? such a shame RIP Seve.
