i am fed up with restricted play because of dedicated lady and senior tee times. i can understand the need and want for like minded groups to play together, i have no problem with that. with this in mind why can't golf clubs introduce dedeicated tee times for young un's. it would be great to play at a faster pace with player's more my own age. i often get on the back of the senior groups.....5 hours for a round of golf is mind numbing.

sorry if its a little blunt but i thought in the equality world we live in, its not fair :D

irritating isn't it? At my club, (and i suppose a lot of others are the same) I am in the membership category that pays the most for subs and yet there is no preferred tee time for the over 40 male. The seniors have them 3 times per week, the ladies are the same and our Juniors have preferred tee times on Sunday mornings.

And no, I do not believe that the Saturday competition counts.

Thankfully the only restricted tee times at our club are for competitions which is quite right. Other than that you can book a time up to a week ahead.

I don't agree with this reserved tee times for any group - we are all supposed to be equal so there should be no preferential treatment.

My only issue is that our ladies section has a reserved tee time in the week but for some reason still have their comps at the weekend and shut the tee for a period of time.If they have a reserved tee time then surely their comps should be run during that time.

Thankfully there is no need to book at my club so that's not too bad but as another poster has alluded there is no great need for preferred tee times outside of competitions.

We are the same at our place but if there is a comp on during the week they ask you use the timesheet but if you just rock up there is no problem. Even at the weekend comps you can just turn up but with the online booking you can see who is playing when.

Ladies have the tee on Tuesday mornings so simply don't turn up and play then or start on the 10th The members know when its booked so it doesn't take much to work around it. We have three or four fairly big senior roll ups throughout the week and again most people know when they go out and so can head out in front, start on the 10th or choose not to play. I think it's one of the best thing about my club the fact you can roll up and go out without pre-booking. It means if I have time off work midweed I can still go out whenever I want to rather than trying to fit in behind large 4 balls, societies etc.

We have n otee booking but the tee is shut for the ladies on one morning a week and, whilst men can pitch up and enter a comp at any time, the ladies insist on going out in a group for their comp and close the tee for an hour or 2.

Due to the equal rights law. It is now elegal to have differant subscriptions based on age or sex. Also applies to tee times, and comps. If they so wish the ladies can enter the sat medal comp and vis-versa. Gone are the days of men only areas and ladies only days. Any club not abiding by this is in breach of the law. This is not even open to disscusion or debate.

Similar at our club - there is even a sign on the first saying that Ladies must be allowed one full clear hole during this time ....i.e. don't catch em up - lol.

If I wanted to stay a hole behind the ladies for most of the round I would have to wait for them to reach the 9th before I teed off. I am not joking when I say that I have been in a 3 ball that caught up 5 holes over the front 9 to be held up by a 3 ball in a womens stableford comp.

Oh s4it, don't get Leftie started .......

At my club, there are no restricted tee times (apart from societies of course and the very occasional ladies mid-week comp where the tee may be booked for an hour of two for half a dozen groups). It's just a case of turn up and play.

Juniors are not allowed on the course though until after mid-day. This gives us old f@rts a chance of playing our rounds at a comfortable speed rather than being held up by the antics of those younger members who feel that they must emulate the speed of play of the pros and taking 27 or so practice swings before mis-hitting the ball, stalking every putt from every angle before missing, etc.

Don't get me wrong, it's great that we have so many juniors playing - some of them at a very good level, but I would rather have them behind me that in front.

And, as I've said before, at Sundridge I've never experienced the problem of being held up by slow playing ladies.

It seems to be the 4 ball comps and matches that seem to be slow - whether seniors, vets or "the younger" element.

Not quite correct I'm afraid...... ;)

Think of it as a blessing.
At least you know when the seniors and ladies are playing and simply avoid them. Play another day, or go off before them or after them.
Don't understand when people tee off after a tee has been closed and complain about the speed of play.
My old club had most tee bookings in the mornings. By 12 o clock the first tee was empty and you could fly round.
