Sad State Of Football

Really? Would they? Really? Youth has no fear!!!!!

England draw again 0-0 Boooooooooooooooooo utter rubbish. I don't care if it's Brazil or Germany or whoever. You cannot win games unless you know how to score goals.

Rep Of Ireland? I really though MON would find a way to win. It appears even his powers have long gone.
Are you saying Germany and Brazil don’t know how to score goals either

Did you see the Brazillian side that played? Thought it was a fantastic result especially given that the England side was very new, youthful and a test to see how players coped. Great performance from Gomez. I really hope Southgate takes as many of the younger players features in the last 2 games plus the likes of Kane, Ali etc but does include the likes of Gomez, Loftus-Cheek, Livermore and maybe even Solanke or Abrahams.

How about a headline of, “England field two of their youngest, most inexperienced teams ever against two of the best teams in the world and were unbeaten in both matches.”

Whilst everyone one wants a win, how about celebrating those great results?

According to the England manager (going off what he said) Brazil were by far the better side, (even though we could have nicked it at the end). And we scored NIL. I actually don't give a stuff what the other team scored. It's all about how England performed. Apparently we were outclassed and scored nowt.

Oh, and talking to a big premier league footie fan yesterday, season ticket and all that, he doesn't care about England. Hasn't watched them in years. Might take a peek if they reach the QF otherwise no interest at all. The Premiership has reduced how people care about international matches to almost nothing. Hence the fever other other nations who don't have it.

So the bloke’s a glory hunter, “might take a peek if they reach the QF” I hope Southgate reads this, it might just be the incentive he needs to get the team need to do well

This answer proves you don’t follow football and the thread is a wind up!

?????? I can assure you it's not. If you ad in a few expletives to my posts and say them in a mad temper, then you'll get close to my feelings.

So if another team scores 6 you expect England to score 7?

WE ARE NOT THE BEST IN THE WORLD AND HAVE NO RIGHT TO WIN EVERY GAME.

You can add as many expletives as you like, have a read of hobbit’s post and your answer to him again and please explain on what planet you think it’s a sensible answer.

Excellent, less 'football' fans to disappoint when we pick a youthful side and go out after the group games but are looking at building for the future.

think you'll find that how a fair number (i would be tempted to say majority even a poll on here would give that result) of match going PL club fans see it.

I am not sure its the premiership that has caused fans to fall out of love with England.

I am a Watford fan ( for my sins) seen a few highs and lots of lows over 40 odd years - nothing so far has dented my enthusiasm for the club.

England however is different. Used to love in my earlier years going to Wembley and watching the national side.
Now the side is full of "players" more interested in money, haircuts, cars etc than actual pride of playing for their country.
I haven't been to an England match for a few years, they lack pride, passion and enthusiasm.

Would love Southgate to give some younger, hungrier players a go - that would get some interest back for me.

About sums it up for me as well.

No, I want England footie team to be exciting to watch. King Kev was on the right lines, but, well, as we all know, wasn't really mentally up to the job. But we were exciting. Remember when we went 2-0 up on , I forget who, and lost 3-2. We should have shut up shop but even King Kev was so shocked that his tactic of playing English footie working he forgot to tell the lads to shut up shop once winning.

It was 2 friendlies! That’s when we want him trying different things, during worthless matches.

Hopefully he’s learnt something and we’ll see how it goes in Russia. Remember when we beat Germany 5-1 and everyone thought we were world beaters, we weren’t.

is that not the same effect as a boring 0-0?

So what.

And it is about what the other team and England scored. Would you prefer a panel of judges, e.g. 3.9 from the French judge, 4.0 from the Russian judge.

In case you weren't up to speed on football, its the score that determines the result not how much a team dominates another.

But for the hard of hearing, let's just assume England are playing the last match of the group stage, prior to the quarter final. They draw 0-0 and progress to the QF. They then get dominated for 80mins in the QF but sneak a goal against the run of play and make the SF. Another backs to the wall performance sees them reach the final...

Whatever you may think, the nation will be ecstatic. Will it be a bit dour to watch? Yes. Will I watch the final? Hell yes!!

Oh, but wait a minute, the Canadian judge has awarded it to Brazil!! Do you realise how stupid that sounds?
