It's a sad state of affairs when you defend the behaviour of the USA fans by comparing to football fans.In defence of the American fans.
I actually thought it would be worse than it was. Yes things got heated and abuse hurled but the Ryder Cup has transcended golf. A lot of people go or watch who wouldn't normally watch a golf event. I believe there was only one report of physical violence between fans.
I've got no problem with singing, booing or even abuse as long as it's not during the backswing or directed at family members. We don't want a watered down event.
I can guarentee there was 100 times the amount of trouble and arrests at football games yesterday in England alone, than over the whole Ryder Cup. So it's bordering on laughable to put this down to a culture issue.

Hmmm. Not sure Rory’s wife would agree. Reports suggest she left the course yesterday in tears.
It’s fun to watch tho, just like when Rory bombs oneThere are long drive comps for that - one of the key ingredients for this is getting the ball in the hole

I stand by what I said. Both are sports fans, so why is it a sad state of affairs? Or is it because it doesn't fit your outlook?
People are using the US fans at the Ryder Cup to stereotype Americans. Using that same logic, what would you be happy if the world judged British people on the actions of a minority of football thugs?
Nobody is criticising rowdy behaviour btw. It is the obscene chants and shouting during a players swingTo be fair, I said abuse at family members was unacceptable. No excuse for that.
The atmosphere adds to the event and makes it sweeter when we win![]()
I actually think there is more European fans the USA at the 1st grandstand today... Surprised that is isn't even close to being at capacity.. I reckon a good few have decided not to bother today..Players not draped in flags on first tee, and it seemed a more measured atmosphere today, to me. Hopefully a few lessons have been learnt.
The tools will no doubt follow Rory around though

Saw a tweet earlier that said many US fans had sold their tickets to European fans as they didn't want to be there.....I actually think there is more European fans the USA at the 1st grandstand today... At quite a loss I think, $750 originally but on re-sale sites for $300……Saw a tweet earlier that said many US fans had sold their tickets to European fans as they didn't want to be there.....
