Ryder Cup 2025 - All matters

In some ways he was right - he wasn’t saying anything that hasn’t been said before about BDC

BDC going on about his you tube channel etc when it should be all about the team and Ryder Cup etc

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

98% of what Chamblee spouts is either self indulgent or just absolute drivel. His commentary ability is there with Michael Owen’s comment of “I think whoever scores most goals wins this game”

That’s one of the most accurate statements about all modern golf now imo.

I don’t think there is a course set up anywhere in world golf that isn’t set up for the modern top players. Home advantage now just comes down to a Partisan crowd especially as most players now spend their whole lives in America.
Donald & Bradley live about 4 miles apart 😆

Azinger was moaning about Bethpage (he never like the course) suggesting the US have given away home advantage.

I don’t really listen or watch what he says but what he is saying in the video is no different to what people said about Woods or a number of the US golfers over the years when it comes to the Ryder Cup

Just watched this to get me in the mood.

It's a real shame I was only 26 and not watching golf at the time, as seeing that Sunday live must have been absolutely incredible. I got back into golf around 2016 but missed that year's RC, so the first one I was invested in and watched was 2018. Which was a fantastic one for us of course. The Moliwood domination and Tiger & Phil getting 0 points between them. 😁

My son has just sent his first pictures from the practice day. He said the rough isn't much at all. Bradley must have had it cut for his bombers. Can't blame him, it's what we would do if we were an American captain.

You will still see rough, it's just that these guys will be hitting it well over the thick stuff. They've left plenty for the hackers next week when they get back on it :ROFLMAO:

That’s a really well put together video but it makes me cringe releasing things like this before an event. If the result goes the other way you just look stupid.

No use releasing a motivational video after the event though...

They's look more stupid saying, 'Well, we will have a go, but doubt we'll win' 😁

Come on Europe 🏆

Why release a motivational video at all ! That’s for the team room and the team to be internally motivated not for the fans to fawn over a video.

When interviews I fully expect players to say they’re going to win and the captain to say such things with confidence. But videos like this make me cringe! Any form of public motivation in sports in fact is cringe worthy

Much as I want Europe to win I think it’s going to be Whistling Straits again. On paper evenly’ ish teams but home advantage is huge. Going on and on about being such a tight team is great when you’ve won but setting yourselves up for a fall if you don’t.

I was there!

I think stuff like this is just for the fans.
If anyone thinks a player is going to see this and think oh I wasn’t going to bother trying but I will now needs to give their head a wobble.

It’s a sport and all players are going to try their best.
Motivational speeches are best used in situations when people have a choice that’s generally life changing and need courage.

I don’t think a game of golf quite fits that criteria.

Fun to watch and a bit of a laugh but it won’t make a difference either way to the result.

I know that it clearly is, and not disputing that, but it shouldn't be as big an advantage as it used to be. Years ago you would see more of the European team plying their trade on the European tour, so course set-up for the Ryder Cup would be something that favours one team or the other. Now pretty much all of them (bar the 3 LIVs) are playing PGA Tour and playing the same courses and events week in, week out. So course set-up has to be less of a factor. It's simply the partisan crowd you have to worry about.

In theory I agree with what you say.
How do you explain the results from the last 10ish Ryder cups though when pretty much the home team has won every time?

As you say the players pretty much all play together on the same courses every week there shouldn’t be a reason the home team seems to dominate but they do.

You don't have to go back very far to a time when more of the European team were playing European tour. I seem to recall Casey was forced to miss one or two RCs because he chose to play exclusively on the PGA Tour - obviously they must have relaxed the requirements on this now. The home support is always going to be the biggest part of it. I'm just saying it's not like the old days where US were seen as the 'bombers' and Europe were seen as the accurate players who hit fairways and greens; and the courses were set up to reflect this by the home side. Nowadays they all play the same game.

Buzzing that you’re in the minority like and thousands will enjoy a bit of motivational/nostalgic/passionate bit of media to get the excitement ramped up

God this place is full of contrarian bores like
