Ryder Cup 2025 - All matters

Just can't wait for this for now. I booked the Friday off work, and then coincidentally saw that my club are doing a fun 'Ryder Cup' greensomes competition that morning, followed by screening the Ryder Cup action in the bar, so I signed straight up for that. Should be an awesome day. On the Sunday I'll probably play in the morning and watch the singles in the afternoon as well, unless it's on too late of course. Just need to work out how/where I'm watching Saturday as well without upsetting the wife...

Wonder if Noren would’ve been picked had the team selection been 2 weeks later? He’s bang in form, another great win today.

Rose posted a photo on instagram of the whole team on the plane last night to NY. Two thoughts:

1. Surprised they weren't on a private jet (I assume Virgin gave them the tickets in exchange for publicity).

2. Still almost 2 weeks to go. I expected the players would be having a few days off - many of them have played several weeks back to back - then heading out early next week.

Honestly I don't think that taking a long break will be a good tune up for the Ryder Cup. Last time the American team was quite ring rusty and didn't really get off to a flying start. It does look that the Open de France will have to miss all the Ryder cup stars... I think it's great they're headed to a New York recon!

It's 12 days to the start of the event. If I was captain I'd be giving them a few days off and saying see you next Monday at Bethpage. These guys still practise when they are at home, 4 days prep at Bethpage is enough.

But I'm not a winning Ryder Cup captain so what do I know!

Is anyone here an expert on time zones and can hazard a sensible guess what time the golf will start on each day for me?
Does anyone need a relevant qualification on that, to prove their expertise on time zones. Or, would sufficient knowledge on how to use Google be enough? :)

I can never figure it out, but it does require a bit of knowledge of what time they actually tee off as well as converting the timezones. I need it mostly for the Sunday as I plan to play a round beforehand, but I can either tee off before 9 or after 11:30 at my place. Looks like it'll be more worthwhile to tee off after midday and then watch the singles afterwards. (y)

Sky program is due to start at 10:00 and first tee at 12 on the first two days

5 hours behind

7am first tee is an early start! For the players and the fans. Daylight is always an issue on the first 2 days, I don't know why they moved the event back, I'm sure it used to be earlier in September.

In London we lose about 4 minutes daylight a day during September, almost 2 hours less daylight at the end of the month compared to the start.

We have a 36 hole medal on the Sunday :cautious:

11.35 to 13:37 were the singles tee times in Rome.
So possibly around 4.30 to 6.30pm our time that they'll be teeing off? I should be finished by about 6pm. And asleep on the sofa by 8pm

Are you certain they'll be stuck at Bethpage?
Maybe it is a meet up, reccy, then they go off for a break (if needed)
