Rules Question

Playing at the weekend,one of our group hits his ball into a fir tree,we can see the ball lodged on a branch, he shakes the tree and the ball falls out,he the plays the ball as it lies and takes no penalty.
I think the ball should have been called unplayable and a penalty shot and drop taken.
All you rule experts advise please.

You are correct, adding the shin up the tree and play a Langer as an additional option.

As others have posted he should have played it how it was lying or taken a penalty drop!! Same happend to me last year and those where the options given to me by my coach!!!

Was this in a competition? If so I would have though that they should be disqualified.

If you ever play Fulford, the tree has a plaque on it so you won't miss it. You'll also stand there and go "He was out of his mind to go up there!"

I remember the Langer incident. He didn't look particularly safe up there but the others have the ruling nailed. Imagine if Langer had fallen and broken his arm and lost the B&H (it was a big event in those days)

Mind your forgetting the amazing up and down for half at the last in front of the gallerys.
