Its not backwards. Its better.would there be anywhere to park my horse?
can’t think of any other sport that wants to go backwards.

You can’t throw a Javelin backwards?Javelin
In your opinion. Its not backwards. It’s better.
See, this is a change I could really get behind. But I'd limit to 10 clubs. I think it would bring a lot more benefit to the game than any ball change, and bring benefit at all levels for a variety of different reasons
If it’s better are you playing with 20 year old equipment? Its not backwards. Its better.
Are you thinking what I'm thinking? Only way to do that is make pink castle tees mandatory on tour.I’d be happy with 10 clubs.
There is no need to ban the driver. Just lower the maximum tee height.
We should also remove the bounce from wedges. Stop green staff from immaculately preparing golf courses. Remove all yardage markers and distance measuring devices. Let us get back to playing golf exactly as it was played in the 19th century (except, we'll still let women play)![]()
The boat dosnt. They go backwards in rowing all the time.
It’s going to be a big hit to the ball manufacturers. Every week, as soon as the winning putt drops, social media is lit up with which ball won.
It will be interesting to see the numbers when professional tournaments are being won with a ball the amateur can’t or doesn’t want to play.
Longer hitting has damaged the quality of golf courses worldwide. Most of it has come from equioment. Not the gym. Thats why the average golfer has got longer. Even high handicappers. It isnt because the 25hc is pumping iron at 6am.
That might not be as unpopular as you think.‘Unpopular opinion’ incoming - albeit its never going to happen:
I would welcome this actually. Part of the challenge and the skill of golf is in the golfer’s estimation of the task at hand…there follows his/her choices…and ultimately the accurate execution of the shot required / chosen
Perceiving slope gain/loss, wind speed and direction, air temp and of course, distance to the green and to the flag are integral things to consider in choosing the right shot — the second part is the execution of the shot
The perception / judgement element is why I like golf and a large part of why I specifically love links golf (more wind, more things to factor in) and certain courses and golf holes with elevation changes etc
I often play bounce games without a gps or without looking at it, especially on my home course - and am amazed at a regular PP who despite playing his home course 50+ times per year, has to gps everything, even in a casual game
Sorry, but that's me as well.‘Unpopular opinion’ incoming - albeit its never going to happen:

Hey! You were after a sport where they purposely adjusted the equipment so it wouldn't go too far....the throwers were going beyond the stadium limits. If they hadn't made the adjustment.....the throwers would have been moved out into a big field somewhere without the fans. The equipment and the throwers were overpowering the field they throw on......just like golfers today. You can’t throw a Javelin backwards?![]()
Keep going, you'll find someone to enter into an argument with you eventually.Seriously, how many courses have been ruined because amateurs have gained a few yards?
Maybe, just maybe....the authorities now know how much gain there is to be had with hitting the ball as far as possible, reigning it back will help level the playing field somewhat.

Roll back?
It’s not the equipment, tiger was crushing it 300 yards in his early days. Golfers are just athletes now instead of being overweight smokers…
Seems like you want to play.Keep going, you'll find someone to enter into an argument with you eventually.
