realistic targets for 2012

I started 2012 off 7.5, at the end of 2012 I'd like to be off 6.4 or less.

I got to 7.1 at my first attempt but then my putting decided to bugger off and I'm back to 7.3!

However, the belly putter is back in the bag so here's hoping..... :smirk:

my target is to play more competitions this year. I got a handicap last year but only played limited number of times and only one comp. I'd also like to sample a few more courses as I move to full membership rates next year

Finally, I'd like a handicap below 20 to justify some new clubs next winter

1) get my handicap down to 5, had a chat with my coach in one of our junior squad sessions, said if i can build some consistancy into my game it could happen!
2) get into the county golf system for Cambridgeshire
3) Retain my trophies from last year and our junior team ones
4) Contend in some board comps and junior opens

Hoping for a good year for everyone here :)

My target is to go out and enjoy every round, good bad or indifferent. Hopefully the short game will finally kick in and we can look towards getting back down to 11 or 12 but as long as I'm enjoying it I'm getting to the point where it'l be what it'll be handicap wise and so if I can't get there then so what

First to get a proper handicap now that I'm a member of a club. Then to try and play enough to get a handicap of 9 by the end of the year.

Main target for the season has to be to play more consistently.

I have set myself some other targets and hopefully they are small /reasonable enough to be realistic.

Play in at least 15 medals at club, and play in at least 4 open competitions. In 2011 I managed 21 and 2 respectively, so should manage that.

Get fairways hit up from an average of 6.26 to above 6.5.

Get GIR up from 3.89 to 4.5.

Keep average putts under 33.

Get handicap down from 17 to 14

The final one is to score less than 90 at least 5 times in medal comps.

Hope fully they are realistic and will show year on year improvements for a third year.

Better my best handicap of 12.3, would love to get to single figs but 9.4 from 15.5 is a big ask regardless of how well I play, would probably need a merit cut to get there.

single figs and shoot +9 or better at my brothers course. make sure im still the lowest handicap in the family by the end of summer.

Realistic targets.....

get down to 22 from 25

try to consistently hit mid 90's gross on my par 72 course

improve my fairway play (woods, hybrids, mid irons ) worst part of my game

play another new 15 + courses to add to the 40+ ive played in 2 years already

to thouroughly enjoy my 5 days 4 games golfing holiday in spain in May

to feel proud of myself at the end of the season at presentation night again

cheers

Practice hard whilst pushing my h/cap out to about 14 when playing in comps then win EVERYTHING next Summer

OR

Take it carefully, work on my swing as best as I can and find some kind of game that'll have me playing somewhere close to my h/cap and not in pain. Scoring better from 100yds is probably the 1st thing to work on... and the last

Seems that nearly 1/3 of the year has gone already and i've played in precisely ONE comp which involved walking in on the 8th  Could be a slow year.

sorting out my driving is the main aim to start with. id be happier hitting more fairways with a repeatable straight drive than the erratic mess of a drive i have at the minute trying to get it down the fairway as far as possible.

if i can get the ball on the fairway 230 down then it turns most of the par 4's into a par 3 of less than 150yards. i fancy myself to get down in 3 in quite a few of these. i quite often think of holes in this way. hit a good drive and the hole is then a simple par 3.

Half my handicap

Have more than 1 sub par competitive round

win some trophies

be in contention for anything I enter

Find a Driver that 'fits' me and helps with consistency

Get putting down to averaging 30 per round

How many people set performance goals as opposed to results goals or are maybe a bit more zen about it all?
