realistic targets for 2012

Deliberately not setting any handicap target this year. If I play well enough the cuts will take care of themselves and it'll come down to whatever it'll be.

In terms of playing though the goals are to play a few GM Meets (Woburn, Camberley, Crowborough and Blackmoor) and to work on getting a short game this year. I am feeling happier that I'm making tiny steps forward wit it and have a lesson at the end of February (weather permitting) and so I can really work hard on it from there.

I have a bit of work to do on my swing but we're again showing signs of moving forward and I'll take a few backward steps not if I can find some kernel of form for Woburn and then beyond. Other than that I'm pretty happy that 2012 will be a good golfing year and that I could be competitive in a few honours board events and monthly comps

Get handicap down to 22. I play off 23 in the Saturday swindle anyway so its not a unrealistic target. If I hit 20 I will be very happy but Im not aiming that high yet. No targets to win a club major this year although it would be nice.

I want to get down to a 15 handicap, which would be a good achievement having only started playing in June 2011.

I'm working hard and hopefully I'll get down to single figures in a few years time.

get to CAT 1
Break 70
Keep my place in the scratch team
Top 5 place in the club championships
1 Board competition
Qualify for the Trilby Tour Finals
Raise a shed load of money at the GM HFH day
Change my clubs less than 3 times in one season :D

well, going to be difficult to beat last year, but I would like to achieve -

1- get down to 13 handicap.
2- defend matchplay title at KP
3- meet new members and get involved at new club, Brough. enjoying is more important than competing here for me this year.
3- qualify for the Trilby Tour Final.
4- Then win it.

last one might sound far fetched/arrogant, but sod it, why not!

At then end of the day I want to get better at this stupid game and enjoy it even more.

Play my best and see where I end up come the end of the year.

No silly targets just play, hitting fairways and greens and we'll see what happens.

Looking forward to Woburn and gleneagles this summer and if it goes ahead hillside on the GM meet.

The last few years I've put too much pressure on myself by setting myself targets and expectations, so it's all about this shot now and not the next or previous one.

Join a club.. get a handicap - then try and lower it..... with help from my lessons !!!

Play as much golf as possible and see what happend... quite fancy having a go at a comp and see where it gets me !!!

My aim for the year - maintain the improvement over the last 12 months. With a bit of luck (we all need that) break 80 in a comp and if the progress continues get to single figures. But if I maintain my current handicap after a drop of 5 last year then I won't complain too much - honest.

Well received my first ever official handicap today. I am now playing off 15, so I can now get rid of the bandit tag!

I have never had a proper handicap, but now that I have joined a club, I would like to get an official one, and my aim by the end of the summer (September) is 18.How often can you have your handicap updated? Once I have handed in the required 3 signed cards, can I hand a new one in as often as possible, what do other people do?Alex

i'm going to try my best to get down to single figures from 16.

a big ask though i think i have a chance.

live about 2 minutes from my course, really looking forward to when the clocks go back
i'll be there in the evening if the weather's nice, on the range, working on the short game and maybe fitting in a crafty 9 holes

found a local pro who i really believe in, made good progress with already

managed to drop 0.9 from a competition at the weekend

im hopeful i can get there :)

Dropped 4 shots last year from 26 to 22 but only played the first half of the year well so :-

Get more consistency into my game
win a monthly medal
get down to 18
And most of all break 90 off the competition tees (whites at our club)

Not to much to ask I think

I kind of sat back for a minute before i replied to this post as im not really sure what goal i should set....
Iv been in a cast for the past 4 weeks and iv got at least another 5 before its off but then im in a walking boot after that(Really pi***d) with the doctors as one is telling me one thing and the lad i saw yesterday after getting the cast re-done told me something that completely contradicted the first lad.:(...

Anyhoo.......With at least 6 -8 months of rehab to get back to full use i guess id be daft to set the bar too high.....Current handicap is at 15.7.....If i could manage to knock it back to say..13 i think that i might achieve it..Anything better is a bonus...Here's hoping:)

Not looking for anything drastic, but after being CatII for more years than I care to remember I'd love to have a couple of decent results to get me back down playing off 12 at least.
I seem to have settled back into the club quite nicely and am playing the course reasonably well so think it's within my reach.

Last year was my first year of competitions. I won quite a few but most of the wins were with 36/37 points so not many cuts. I got 3 cuts and ended the year with 19.6.

This year I hope to get down to 14/15!

Mate a good start with it, shot 83 today so should see a nice wee chop from that.
