Over the last few weeks my golf waterproof is absorbing water rather than repel it. (I blame the wife, its obviously something she is doing when she washes it). Does anyone have experience of products to re-waterproof clothing?

Don't use detergent /normal washing machine powder.
Use soap solution.

or preferably use specialist liquid

I use either NixWax wash in, or something called Storm.

There is a washing liquid and a waterproofing liquid.

Gentle tumble drying also helps with proofing

Nikwax end of debate. I got the wash and tx stuff (runs to check under the sink...)

tech wash & TX direct, comes as a twin pack. clean the tray and wash with the tech wash

wash again with the TX direct

tumble dry on low heat

I wore mine afterwards at woodhall spa and I was as dry as a bone and anyone on here will tell you how wet it was!

I was looking at NikWax and wondered if it was as good as it seems.

It is good, just use the right amount, and don;t try to make the bottle go further by being mean with it.
I tend to measure out the recommended amount then add a bit extra for luck

Yep, Nikwax is awesome stuff.

If you wash waterproofs in a washing machine with normal detergent, then it ruins them. If you wash them in a washing machine without having run it empty to flush any detergent out, it might ruin them.

If you run the machine on a cold wash quick cycle to drain it, and then use the two products G1BBO recommended (with only one suit per wash) and tumble dry low (if label says it can), they'll be like new! I promise because mine are!

As an interim measure, I use Fabsil spray, which works as a "top up". Make sure you spray evenly and concentrate on the seams especially.

I am on dodgy ground here, if I start telling my wife how to wash my gear, I am sure I could be doing all my own washing from now on lol.
