Range dissapointment... The Belfry

I've been to World of Golf at New Malden and it is a decent place to go if you want to work on technical issues and ball striking but trying to gauge distances and land on targets is impossible. I thought they were expensive but the Belfry has to be the most expensive range in the UK

Is it not £6.50 for 90 balls Dave? If you join the range £50 (Credit) which actually costs you nothing it's £3 for 90 balls and full use of the short game area and putting green. So not as bad as it sounds. Mats are great and a mirror in every other bay also.

Nothing wrong with the condition of any of the Belfry courses whatsoever. It is the facilities that are tired and jaded which require modernisation whic is what the new owners plan to do. I really enjoyed the PGA when I played it

I agree with this. The Belfry tends to be a bit 'marmite' but I like it. The course and the greens were in superb condition last year, infact, they were probably the best greens I putted on all year.

Yes mate £6.50 for 90 and £3.20 for members. And they dont use range balls they use nike practice balls. At the end of the day the range has been neglected and needs work. Its all in the pipeline

Not sure if they are doing the shop as its as modern as any other, the main bar is being ripped out as we speak though and the plan sounds promising.

Was gonna say it dont need much doing to it really. It is a real treasure trove in there, I wait until they have the sale on and then pay a visit myself and my Dad have bought loads of stuff from there in the past,Hilfiger,Ralph Lauren,Nike all a great prices

rumor has it that sam's bar will have a roof terrace so customers can have a better view of the course's. drink prices are also being reviewed as they are aware that golfers are going to ''the cock at wishaw'' for a drink instead as its cheeper.

the biggest change was to take place last decemeber but was put on hold due to the bad winter but... the 1st tee on the pga is being ripped up and replaced with what will be the 18th green and the 18th green will become the 1st tee (basicly swapping the 2 holes round. the american owners want the PGA 18th green to finish up front and centre rather than being tucked away to one side. as a interim they are looking at adding 2x par 3's in the middle of the course somewhere.

the derby is loosing ALOT of fairway bunkers and relaced with tree's and the big green side bunkers are being filled in and changed to smaller pot style bunkers. the 16th par 3 has already been done

Sounds good to me hope it all comes together as planned. Knowing the Yanks as I do the do not do things in a cheapskate fashion so singers crossed for ya. A roof terrace will be a great addition as well. The drink prices do need to be looked at as they are crazy as I have heard all kinds of tales of woe like no change from a tenner for 2 pints of lager and such

or the pga gave him a spanking. Remember the pga is a links designed course

Spanking pmsl.

Gross score was 80 and that included a double bogey on the 4th,hardly a spanking considering we played off the stones and i was nursing a hangover.
It isn't a long course, and concrete hard fairways allow you to hit a long iron off the tee on everything except the long par 4's and 5's.
The pylons looked as lovely as ever though.
