Random Irritations

Come to my local in our village mate. I’ll treat you to a nice pint you can get 1 for for the price of your burger and Stella 😂

A pint of Guinness last time I bought one in my local was £8.90 and that was 2 years ago, So good knows what it cost now. No idea about lager I don’t drink the stuff but I can’t imagine it’s much cheaper.

Doing a quick conversion, I can get 3 pints, I’d fall over on 3, with free tapas with each pint for €11.40, around £9.50…

It’s one of the reasons we don’t go out locally anymore due to it being so bloody expensive. Works out cheaper to go further afield and on a little adventure to make a day of it somewhere different. Whereas in just over an hour in our local with food and 2 or 3 drinks each I’d be lucky to get change out out £150 😒

No complaint about the quality and it did taste very good.
I was just a bit surprised by the cost.
We don’t often get a takeaway/delivery.
We would prefer to either eat out or cook ourselves.
Where was it from? An independent restaurant sort of place? Most people say Five Guys is expensive; on Deliveroo it's £10-13 for a burger and £5-7 for chips. So could be £20 if you had the largest options. There are some restaurants out there charging a fair whack for 'posh' burgers but a burger is a burger to me. McDonald's is usually the cheapest and I find them perfectly serviceable! Had the Arch burger the other week and it was really nice. I'd maybe choose Burger King over them though as the chips are far better.

I’m not sure where it was from as my son ordered it but I know it was an independent place.

The price did include delivery which may have made it more.

It was much better than a McDonald’s burger and the chips were good as well.

I have no idea who had what but mine was a cheeseburger and normal chips so nothing too fancy.

Looks like I paid about the right price or maybe slightly over.
Nice as it was I doubt will order from there again as normally just me and the wife and we normally cook or eat out as opposed to getting a delivery.

Fair enough - if it was on Deliveroo or another similar app, you actually pay more for the food than you would in the restaurant and you've still got a delivery fee on top of that. If it was direct through the restaurant then they could be charging £10 for delivery, I don't know.

We're guilty of loving a takeaway, get at least one a week sometimes two. Kills the old bank balance.

There are a good number of independent burger places that are far better than the likes of McDonald’s and BK etc

We have Sobe here as well as Smashburger and Byron and you can tell they are far better than your standard takeaway

I think if you spent over a certain amount then delivery was free/included in the price.
Although obviously the tip for the driver wasn’t.
Not 100% sure as I said my son ordered and I gave him the cash.

We've had to buy a new lawnmower, but since we don't have a shed yet, it needs to be kept indoors in the conservatory. Didn't think that would be a problem, until I just did the first cut of the year and it now absolutely stinks of fox:poop:. That's put a spanner in the works! Don't want it in the bloody house now! I've tried cleaning it off but I don't exactly want to drench it in water in case it ceases working. I think the smell has remained, although it's the kind of smell that lingers in your brain even when you're not really smelling it anymore. Best get looking at sheds...

Rather than a full on shed, look at an outside storage box. When our kids were little we had a Keter one to keep all of their outdoor stuff in. Very good, would do the job for your lawnmower and is less obtrusive than a shed.
