Driving across to the lakes yesterday, part way across the A66, in thick fog, I get a tyre pressure warning. Front left tyre is low, I blow it up. My car has sensors in each tyre so I bring up the display and carry on driving. Every time it gets too low, I pull over, top it up. 5 stops, we got there

Searched for a tyre place and find one 1.4 miles away. Up early this morning, tyre totally flat, blow it up, get there. Hole is in the wall, can't be repaired. New tyre needed, only one available. It's a Lake District tourist price

So tomorrow me and Missis T have been invited by another couple to watch Dirty dancing v Grease in a bar in town. Really looking forward to it. Missis T has just had a message off the lady. Really looking forward to tomorrow night as I have been poorly all last week with flu, sore throat, S and D etc etc. still rough but need to get out.
Er that’s not gone down well with Missis T. She has sent a txt saying don’t worry if you have to cancel as you don’t want to be ruining Xmas for your self and others.

We need to be open next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, although it won’t be busy.
So I told the 3 staff working them days that they can each do 1 day and have the other 2 off but will still pay them for every day.
They are now arguing about who works which days.
I have told them to tell me by 11.00 this morning who is doing what and if they can’t agree then all 3 of them can come in all 3 days.

Yeah I face a similar challenge every year at this time. Need to cover most days & never make a secret of it during interviews etc but still ppl seem surprised when the schedule comes out

Daughter’s partner works in a coffee shop on a university campus. The place is virtually deserted but the management are making them open on Xmas Eve.
Same thing happened last year. Total takings for the day were £4.

Maybe but it’s ludicrous. And they need to stay till 4pm.
Fortunately he’s starting a new job in January so this is the last time he will have to put up with this.

The weird thing is all 3 of them agreed to work next week anyway.
It’s like a bonus 2 days off and they still get paid for it.
It’s all sorted now. Not sure if all of them are happy though

Reading the work related posts above. Since 1988 I was either in the military or working as a civvy for a military based organisation. Two weeks off every year except for Xmas 1991 when my ship was down the Falklands. Even then we were alongside for Christmas Day so we still had a good time. I went to the BBQ at the survival equipment section.

Popped to Tescos today to get some bits for lunch and daughter came with me
My god it’s mayhem , rammed
But the worst is the general lack of manners of people barging part others , smacking into trolleys , my daughter was pushed out of the way by an old couple because she apparently was taking too long to pick her strawberries- rude ignorant
