Random Irritations

The amount of guff online courses I've been bombarded with today as we transition from actually teaching people to doing pointless uninteresting online versions of the same course where you do not learn anything and just click through poorly put together tick boxes for the sake of a certificate. Then when you get to where you need to be you need to do it all again in person anyway because the online course doesn't give you the practical examples or hands on that needed to pass or carry out the task!

So many of these in my organisation in the last couple of years. MrsA was doing one for teaching last week and it was so similar in format that I was left wondering if companies are putting them together using AI to populate a template.
The number of multiple choice questions where half the correct answers are either incorrect or irrelevant is embarrassing.

I'm doing one now! The answers are borderline madness in some of them and the ironic part is you don't need to read the questions as with the ones we're doing all the answers standout because they're the ones that are all the longest answer available:cautious:. S you don't need any thought process just look for the most words, but all the learning material has to be completed first so you spend an hour clicking next not learning to select the obvious answer to get your certificate that proves you can click a mouse!

My last contract was my one and only experience of the Civil Service. One of the best places I ever worked, but they allow too much nonsense to get im the way.
I agree, currently engaged in one of my contracts with a Civil Service agency and whilst a great bunch of people, lack of basic commercial acumen means that stupid decisions result in stupid outcomes.

I used to hate online courses with a passion.

The worst one I can remember was one about us using our discretion more effectively, but it was drummed into us that using that discretion was not always discretionary. Yes, seriously.

By the end of it all nobody who had wasted an hour of their lives watching the absolute guff on screen was any the wiser.

Facebook adds that are Chinese companies and drop shippers pretending to be UK small businesses closing down for some heart rending reason to sucker people on to buying and people falling for it

Receiving a cheque in the Post. One of the companies that I have an account with, Tembo, do not accept cheques. Worse still I have an account with them without an account number!

There was a good reason, at the time, I opened an account with them🤬

People who seemingly always have to argue, just for the sake of it.
No matter how tenuous their point is, they still have to argue.
PLEASE, just give it a rest!
Oh, they know who they are.

When it’s obvious someone is just arguing for the sake of it 🤦‍♂️

You know what, I totally agree.
