The boiler has died . Plumber opened it up and stuff had melted that really shouldn't have melted. New one ordered, hopefully be fitted tomorrow/Wednesday. We've had it 17 years so it didn't owe us anything but it's still an ouch.

Will use self check out or manned till, which ever I see as being the quickest as invariably only have few items to buy.
A while ago managed to leave my wallet on the self check out at local Lidl which on my return 30 mins later they were happy to give back to me as they'dseen it ans put it safe, mind you not as happy as I was, phew

Trying to renew my Virgin Media contract. Out of nowhere, the price of the contract went up 70%.... messaging them, and they came back with
" we have an excellent contract, only £116 for the next 24 months..... with a price increase in April 2026".

can someone explain how can it be a contract for 24 months if the price will increase in 8 months.???

One of my favourite metal bands got back together earlier this year and by the grace of god have announced a European tour. Only thing is they’re supporting a mainstream act and their only UK date is in bloody London
Now do I get tickets for the gig, knowing full well I’ll probably only enjoy the band I want to see or do I hold out in the hope they do a solo European tour

Ha ha, you will have never heard of them. Acid Bath, a very niche but legendary band who split up in around 96 after their bass player died. They’re supporting System Of A Down and QOTSA at the Spurs stadium next year.

Our athletics teams vests in the World Champs.
Some of the team are wearing exactly the same as the USA team, blueish and stripey and some are wearing a dark blue patterned affair, again very similar to the US alternative vest. Why do we need two different ones and why is one exactly the same as the US’s. Isn’t the point of national vests/kits to be able to distinguish between countries?

Just watching today’s action and we have two former world champions in one of the 1500m semi finals. Kerr wearing the weird stripey blue vest which is the same as the USA, Wightman isn’t even wearing the other blue patterned kit but a white vest and black shorts. Is it a non uniform day for the GB team?

System and Queens should be class, surely? I've only seen them at festivals but they have some great songs between them.

Yeah it's irritating but most of the utilities and tech providers have been like that for a while now, putting an annual inflationary price rise into the "fixed price" contract.

They will now have loads on zero hours contract though....

I think they have have people on 24 hours contracts. I was on a 16 hours one and when I was there everyone new were being given 24 hours contracts. Not ot say that is all you can have. There is usually loads of hours available if you want them. One lad was doing 60 hours a week!
