Random Irritations

Having checked out this route I found out you need a sim which is not speed locked and unlimited data, plus, depending on the contract, you might need to buy a 5g router The only suitable provider for me was EE and it's cost was about the same as broadband (£30/month). Above all you need to live in an area with top notch 5g, which I do not have.
Have you checked whether there's an indie provider in the area - Community Fibre, Gigaclear, LitFibre etc?

It comes with the sim as required, and the wifi router.

Did you try eBay? I broke the indicator carrier on my Skoda's door mirror (my own fault) and got a replacement on eBay for £15.

Incidentally, whose daft idea was it to put indicator repeaters in such a vulnerable place? What was wrong with having them on the side of the wing? Remember the good old days when a door mirror was just that, without any motors or other electrical components? Swipe it off and it cost just a few quid to replace.

I would have tried eBay Clive but the Nissan garage was a 2 minute walk and the mot'ers said to and get one and they'll fit it free and then give it a pass. I thought it'd be £50 or so but I didn't have the time to search for it and wait for its arrival. Next time I'll get that checked before the MOT IS due 😁

I have Gigaclear but before my renewal I was looking at 5g to see if it was cheaper, sadly 5g is very poor inside the house and 'only just' outside with only EE. All other providers only have 4g.

At least I managed to agree a decent renewal price with Gigaclear.

Add to the irritation that we have had pavements dug up by Virgin Media and still can't get them.
I don't understand what Virgin are up to.
My estate has had FTTP for years, through Jurassic Fibre (now part of Cuckoo).
Virgin dug the place up a few months ago to lay their own fibre, and then started offering FTTP at higher prices than Jurassic Fibre.
Needless to say they haven't had much takeup.
After their leaflet drops failed, they got door-knockers out to try and drum up business, who are of course being sent away with a flea in the ear.

Didn't Virgin do any research about existing infrastructure before spending all this money and trashing our pavements?

Flat tyre which I presume is now ruined after driving at least 2 miles on it. Car has only done 2,200 miles 😭
Remembered I’d took out a wheel and tyre policy when I bought the car. Bonus! However, really irritating form to complete not only by me - but the garage too. Sorted - just need them to review my ‘claim’.

Their contractors damaged our water meter cover plus possibly the meter but denied doing it. Am still waiting for someone from that team to contact me!

However, I contacted our water company who thought it so urgent that they came and repaired it the next day.

I thought the Virgin infrastructure was their own and no-one else used it, or them use others?

We had virgin put into our estate just over a year ago. The only FTTP option for us. It seems crazy that we are restricted to one option only. It should be like gas or electric where there is infrastructure and then any company can pay to use it. It's incredibly clumsy and inefficient to have different companies, offering the same service, digging up the same bits of road at different times.

Drivers who signal right when they are going straight ahead at a roundabout should be taken out and shot.........especially the ones that don't signal left when they turn left..

Plus the idiots who leave a roundabout still indicating right!!!!!
Why?
What are you thinking?

Virgin has always been fibre cables, whereas everything else was BT copper. Personally I wouldnt have anything other than Virgin cable for my internet.I have never had latency issues like I always did running on the BT network.

Ok, roundabouts. Which lane would you choose at the bottom of the picture (the dotted line) to get to the zebra crossing at top of picture and how do you indicate? Screenshot_20250214_172958_Google Earth.jpg

The issue then is, what if virgin double the price? We wouldn't want to go back to copper but we have no alternative. Infrastructure should be shared

Right hand lane on approach
No signal
Signal left to leave just before the red car behind the hedge.

Two lanes at a roundabout, right lane is right only
Then, here comes Mr Snotty who sees the roundabout as an overtaking opportunity, takes the right line, puts foot down, indicates left and goes straight on.
Oh, well done! Great move there! You are brilliant!

When its busy, there are more cars wanting to go left and straight on than want to go right. So Mr Snotty thinks he can jump the queue.
Should be a 6 month ban.
He could, I imagine, go all the way round in a sort-of loop the loop. Would make him even more of a plonker, but a less dangerous one.
