Random Irritations

Early 40’s, plenty of shelf life left. I think my colleagues issue is that anything senior (head procurement manager) people don’t want to invest time as they are worried about how much longer he plans to work, on the flip Lidl, Tesco and aldi won’t even give him an order picking job as “ you’re only using us until you find something else “ was a comment he was told.
I'd love to take a job at M&S when I'm getting close to retirement, use the discount and just wind down. Your mate will have loads to offer, not just work experience but life experience, so short sighted from hiring companies.

Slightly different in my case, having spent 30 years in a public sector role, but my one big regret is not moving around within the police. There was so much more I could have done, but I found a comfort zone.

Ironically, the most enjoyable period I had was when I was promoted, and they moved me from that comfort zone to a role which was as far removed from it as it was possible to be. I loved it.
I massively regret not trying out for the police, was morbidly obese in my early 20s so wouldn't have got anywhere near being successful but I wish I'd done something about it then.

I thought about the police years ago, but by then had a family to think about. I would have liked to have made it into the RAF, I wanted to do an apprenticeship to be a weapons or propulsion technician, but failed the very final exam.
Do I regret it, no...I don't regret anything in my life. As I see it, if I regret something as life changing as that would have been I am regretting what life I have had, my wife, kids and grand daughter and I can never ever do that.
Wonder what if, then yes. Regret, definatly no. Life is what it is, and often the path is chosen for us.
