Random Irritations

So it’s a narrow pavement on a busy road and the 2 walking side by side don’t have to use common sense? In your opinion the runner should risk his life in the road. Unbelievable!
I didn’t realise he was running for his life and couldn’t maybe slow to a walk to encourage them to go single file while maybe saying, “Excuse me. Thank you.”

Jog somewhere where you won’t come into conflict with pedestrians on narrow paths.
Or on the other side of the road so you can see the oncoming traffic.

I’m with them. I’d never give up space on a path to someone using it abnormally. If I was running I’d be on the road or in a park.
Sorry but in my 64 years on this planet I have never seen a prohibit running or jogging sign on any public pavement, path, promenade or any other public walkway. Come to think about it, it’s only poolside that I have seen a no running sign. So by default running on these can’t be classed as abnormal

The pace his was running is irrelevant, the behaviour of the 2 others was ignorant and bad mannered with no excuse if they “forced” him in to traffic on a busy road.

I think you’ve gone a bit ott on this especially using words like “conflict” & “abnormal”

Me neither.
Running on a footpath is not illegal. Nor are scootering, pogo-sticking, tennis or chipping practice, but you wouldn’t do any of them if they brought you into conflict with walkers.
I’m not anti-running. I have been a runner, but off-road; I hated running next to traffic.
I spent 30 years walking the 2 miles from my house to the station twice every day to commute to work. We have narrow pavements. I have thousands of episodes to draw on to know how unpleasant it is to have a panting, sweaty bloke run past you on a narrow pavement. Anybody who can’t figure that out needs a lesson in empathy.

Seriously, if the road is too busy to step into for 5 yards then all you have to do is slow to a walk for 10 seconds.

Or carry on as you are.
I’m just demonstrating that this is not an echo chamber. 🤷

He was running towards 2 people, they will have seen him, he didn’t sneak up behind them panting, sweating on them!

Who needs a lesson in empathy!?

I’d prefer said panty sweaty bloke to run past me that walk past me.

My irritation is on shared walking/running/cycling paths is cyclists who don’t ding their bell when approaching me and the wee dog before passing us at 20mph.😤

I’m going to London this weekend and really looking forward to the ignorant runners on the Southbank who think they can push their way through the tourists strolling along looking at the sights. Then add in the idiots on their bikes who are in a hurry and don’t want to wait, should be fun.

Little trick for you.
Put a carrier bag on each foot and walk about mumbling loudly the theme tune to the Wombles,

You will find you will arrive at your destination with nice clean shoes and nobody will of come within 10 feet of you,

Plus it’s impossible to sing the wombles and not feel immediately happy and better about the day.

I didn't think it was necessary, you've effectively suggested you have no empathy for runners.
Whether you were running or walking seems immaterial to me.
At some point you would need to pass the people going in the opposite direction.
If the path was not wide enough for 3 people to fit then either someone has to go into the road or the 2 people need to form a single line to allow enough room for the other person to use the path as well.

If the 2 people don’t do that then in my opinion they are rude/selfish or both.
