Random Irritations

Crazy prices?
Some punter put his receipt online for a round of drinks in The Temple Bar pub in Dublin, howling about the ripoff price for 5 pints of Guinness, understandably.
But..... I'd have been more peed off about the second item - a pint of Harp Lager!!
Does anybody still drink that carp?? I think of it as on a par with Double Diamond and Worthington E 🤢View attachment 56836
Harp in Ireland is actually OK albeit not at that price.

Air BNB wanting, and you'll never believe this, a copy of some form of GOV ID, before they will allow you to book on their site. Madness! No way I'm putting that on ANY website!
And it's worse, I can't find this place on any other site. Everywhere else want a fortune. £250+ a night for a pokey cottage in North Yorkshire.
Is that an Airbnb requirement or the owner? I’ve not used the site before but will be looking at it in the near future.

That’s like £8.30 per pint of Guinness in the most touristy bar in the most touristy part of Dublin - I think that’s about right

That'll be in Euros more than likely. Even so it's still astronomical. As you say I remember Harp from back in the day, dreadful stuff.

Airbnb booking fees. Was looking at an apartment in Algarve. Price went up by about £175 for cleaning and their ripoff fees.
Never used them, doubt I ever will.

I've never been to Dublin but even I know they take your eyes out there. It's the equivalent of having a coffee in St Mark's square Venice, or on the Champs Elysee. You do it for a treat and accept the spanking it's going to give you.

Or two cups of coffee outside a mountainside bar in Courchavel in the French Alps. 12 Euros. Way back in 2005.
My kids still laugh at me for my reaction to overpaying for drinks in Paris one time. It looked a harmless cafe, it really wasn't but it was too late by the time I realised. They were quite young at the time but it's one of those that stuck in their minds. Those moments still live with us and hurt . I hate being ripped off

We had replacement Gas and Electricity smart meters fitted, at the request of BG, late spring last year...
I wonder why they bothered....
I'm not convinced the gas one does anything at all and the electricity has been read twice by an old fashioned man in a hiviz jacket since installation.....
They don't seem very Smart...absolutely bloody useless springs to mind...
