Following on from Bob's thread I was just wondering how many Putts everybody takes per round?

I was told that the Pro's average about 25/26, and I've just checked mine over the last 6 rounds and its 34.

What's your PPR?

Having only played two full, recorded 18 holes this year, I couldn't give you an average. Sunday was 37 though. Want to cut at least 5 strokes off that as an average this season though.

One other thing, do you include 'Putting From The Rough/Fringe' (no jokes please) in your stats, my mate says that he doesnt include his and I shouldnt, but I thought any stroke with the putter counts as a stroke?

32.4 over 27 recorded rounds this year - not too bad as a fair few were on winter greens and even now we are on the mains they are in terrible condition from the winter.

Back onto temps this week as work is being done on all the greens.

If I use the putter then it's a putt - don't think it matters as long as you are consitent.

Think the Pro's only count putts from on the green though?

Just had a look on the system to check this and I'm  it doesn't include medals as the additional info isn't stored for some reason, but they're all off whites.

Score-86-putts 42
Score-90-putts 41
Score-91-putts 38

16 handicapper so I'm not expecting low 30's, but I should be in the high 30's consistently, no?

I go with anything on the green is a putt, using the putter off the green is a chip played with my putter.

If you're counting anything played with the putter you could improve your stats no end by using your hybrid or similar on the green and so take zero putts.

I average about 34 to 36, not great but there are a lot of big slopes on our greens....

consistently, no?

I think we can all join that club, e.g. off a 11 handicap I shot a 72 two weeks ago, 73 a week ago and a 87 last Sat.

Putting is a real minefield, on our 8th which is about 40yards wide and 8yrds deep, from right to left I hit a 100ft putt to 3ft and..........you guessed it missed it! :D

Had this very discussion with a guy off 2 h'cap a couple of years ago. think i was off 11/12 at time , explaind i was taking too many PPR .. we went out later that week & played 18 holes & he pointed out it was my chipping/pitching that was at fault & my PPR stats we mad high because i wasnt leaving myself enough makeable putts .. improved my pitching /chipping & my PPR came shooting down.. could this be affecting some of yer PPR's aswell

36 for me.

With a handicap of 24 (although expecting a cut after the weekend) I'm not too bothered by that.

I expect it could be lower if our greens ran true!! The number of pitch marks means they are more cratered than the surface of the moon!!!

for me any stroke with the putter is a putt, this is from fringe, semi fairway ofr the short stuff.

recent stats from 13 rounds

36, 36, 35, 33, 35, 34, 36, 34, 32, 32, 36, 32, 31

average 34.

maybe i should only count putts on th green and not chips for missed greens.

Last 20 rounds for me is an average of 32.7 which is way too high. I don't count putts from the fringe, only those from the green itself.

I had 30 on Sunday and shot 68 gross which is closer to where I should be. To be fair though my course has MacKenzie greens like Augusta does which aren't the easiest to putt on.

It's a bit of a meaningless stat on it's own. I usually have 30-31 putts a round. On Saturday I had 34. However, I usually only hit 6 GIR, on Saturday I hit 9. I'd be happy with 36 putts if I hit 18 GIR
