Practicing on an Alt day??

Hi there, our club runs the qual comps on sat morning with friday being used as an alt day.

I know theres a rule about practicing on the course before your round. Would this extend to practicing on the Friday for the Saturday comp??

Might be a silly question but when it comes to golf and rules alot of it seems silly...

you can practice up til midnight the day before your comp. if its matchplay you can practice right up til when the game starts! happy practicing!

But if comp is played fri/sat and ur not playing til the sat is it ok to practice on the fri??
Tees and pin positions are same on the Fri and sat..

Mmm a tricky one but I don't see why you can't play a social practice game Friday and comp sat,

As I see it providing you are only entered on Saturday then whatever you do on the Friday is irrelevant. If you are playing in the comp on the Friday unless its a matchplay event if you do play any holes it counts as practicing on the course and its a D/Q (I know from bitter experience)

yep - if ur down to play the sat u can go round as many times on the fri as you like

what you cant do is put your name down for the fri - decide u played gash and try again on the sat!
