Just quick messages to let you all know that im engaged. Asked the Dad in law last Friday and popped the question last night.

No Golf for me this weekend but hoping to play next weekend. My handicap is also under “review” as I have been playing off 13 (3/4 handicap) since the winter rules came in and not scored less than 39 points in 4 rounds. However, due to the course playing so short all handicaps are frozen until we get onto the new tees that are being built.

OK lad, now listen and listen good as how you handle this will effect how much golf you play for the rest of your life.

Women and Marriage and children are the 3 most well known golf time reducing agents known to man.

it is vital that you let it be known that you need your golf time to make you complete as a man.

We have lost the ability to hunt and forage to find food, but the same desire to get to the great outdoors is in our caveman bodies. it is the same skill set to throw a spear or string a bow as it is to hit a golf ball. to come out on top, as leader of your pack or playing partners.

Give ground now and it will be the start of a slippery slope to being allowed to play a couple of times a year and then only against her father, and if you beat him she wont be very happy.

So many Congratulations on your news, good luck, but stand your ground

Well done HTL.
Set a date yet?
Some good advice offered already but suggest naming wedding tables after Open venues, make sure stag do is a 4 day golfing trip to Florida.
You gotta lay down some markers that golf is an important part of your life.
The father in law comment by PhilTF is scary - that's me.

Just to cheer you up things will get much worse on the golf front when mini-HTL's arrive. Be even worse when Junior outdrives you age 12!

Other than that marriage is great. ;)

Hope you got my congratulatory text earlier mate but I'm well chuffed for you. Having met the future Mrs Lloyd she is a gorgeous young lady and you are a great couple. I hope you'll have a long and happy life together and knowing her a little I'm pretty sure she'll be accommodating towards your golfing needs. Great news and the beers are on me next time we have a round

HTL: Congrats. The future is as rosy as you want to make it - so plant roses.

As to the golfing future - the best advice I heard only today. Make sure she plays too. You play in the morning, she hands over the babies in the car park, and she plays pm. My playing partner of today said it worked brilliant for him. :)

It's better to let her play in the morning, that way she can be at home getting your tea on while you play in the afternoon. :D

Blimey! Many, many, many congrats

You managed to evaluate her cooking, cleaning, ironing, and shopping abilities in double quick time... and there's me thinking you'd probably not moved on from the bedroom stage yet

Count me in for the stag weekend at Celtic Manor! :D

Wow, congrats mate. Thought your year was going badly?

About time they pinged you on your h/cap though. Pity it doesn't travel well.

Yes its been a tough year with work and other things but im nearly over all of that now and going forwards again.

Christmas tree in my flat – NO! Going to stick with my big White sofas, black glass and massive TV + stereo. She lives with her parents most of the week and they have two trees there that she can get in the festive mood with. Going to buy a house together in the New Year so next Christmas who knows, perhaps someone makes a manly minimalist Christmas tree?

Would be great to arrange a game together soon guys and have a beer after to celebrate.

Will be back in Wales Boxing Day to New Years Eve and would love a game. Will PM you soon The_Squire when I know my transport situation.

many congratulations. extended celebrations in Scotland then?

just to add to Herr Doktor Attenfragger and backwoodsman's advice; a guy I know got his wife playing - they never have arguments over holiday destinations as they are always planned around golf - they're just back from a month in Oz.
