Poor Service & Attitude SUB70GOLF

Not at my village Post Office. Never had any problems regardless of club size, posted a driver only few weeks ago.

Jammy Git!

Could all change when the village PO starts getting charged the proper proce - as that's apparently what happens!

No idea where that £8.25 comes from either!

Your post office is behind the times if they accept that, if you put in the dimensions it would throw it out, everything was reformed some time ago due for this exact reason, too many medium to large parcels going via the mail (letter) system which they said affected costs so they introduced size & weight policies.

Ive had the same issue with the post office. They won't talk golf club sized boxes as special delivery, they always offer me Parcel Force which is 48hr and dearer than TNT 24hr and TNT collect from me.

That page seems to confirm what I've been told.

You need to move then, not just my village but at least one other round here.

No thanks! Why would we want to pay the same prices as the rest of you. It's bad enough having a Coventry postcode without living there.

But it should (and is) the same prices for everyone, your post office is simply not up to date and I'm surprised anything accepted got delivered or didn't have something to pay and had to be collected by the receiver.

What's a post code got to do with anything, 90% of all CV post codes are Warwickshire and yet I'm classed as West Midlands, I'd prefer to be Warwickshire, CV codes are as far south as Shipston on Stour, would you be any better off with a LE code?

All positive feedback and nobody has ever had to pay excess postage.

As for postcodes; counties have nothing to do with it and are not even used by the Post Office. The "West Midlands" no longer exists other than as a Police Authority. There is no West Midlands (or Greater Manchester) council.

You lot wanna talk postcodes, try living in IV12! Time and price are a lottery.

OP, I feel your pain, have had more than my share of poor sellers on fleabay, most recent of which was putting a shirt in a jiffy bag and dropping at the PO took 5days. Not sure I'd neg purely on delivery time, but changing service and changing their story - not to mention threatening you for nothing - you'd be well within your rights to do that and more, maybe do a follow up on the feedback forum.

Once neg'd a guy because he didn't even have a box to send a club I'd won until 4 days after the auction ended, he replied with "who has a golf box to send a club?"... Well probably guys who sell clubs on ebay?

If they've advertised the item as being delivered by Royal Mail 1st class then whether RM can actually carry a golf club in that manner is irrelevant, they are still in breach of contract if they don't deliver within the same time frame promised. It is the seller's responsibility to ensure their advertised courier can actually carry out his contractual obligations, and perfectly reasonable for the purchaser to expect to receive the service advertised and contracted for.

Let's ignore the explanation of only arranging for a courier once a day (whether a yarn or otherwise) and assume that there was no malicious intent. They have quite genuinely advertised as RM 1st class then discovered, unfortunately, that RM will not carry the item in that manner. That's unfortunate but they should have done their homework first and, if it were my business, I would arrange for courier by an alternative service which provided for the same delivery time even if it cost more than I had charged for postage.

From a technical perspective yeh, have a bitch and moan. Practically however people don't care about contractual obligations generally (especially on the 'Bay) and know you won't do anything about it, so just give them negative feedback, report to them eBay if they get aggressive over it and move on. Hopefully it'll put someone else purchasing from them in the future and economical darwinism will continue on its glorious way.

:)

Have to feel for your frustration here Fish. I work for RM and as posted it is correct that RM changed its parcel structure in April, we no longer take anything longer than 0.61 m, however some PO's are still not up to speed and put them through the system but beware I have known the recipient to be surcharged. Anything above 0.61 m is taken by Parcel Force, we pick up there smaller parcels in exchange. The reasoning behind this is they have large vans, we have small vans so I suppose it makes sense, the price hike didn't, hence the door opened for cheapskates such as Hermes. They are the lowest in my opinion, door stepping, throwing goods over the gate is par for the course, they will leave that parcel no matter how or where and what condition it is received in, if it gets nicked then tough. You paid for a RM which should have read Parcel Force, which would have been 24 or 48 hour delivery service and in honesty it rarely fails and Sub 70 have took the cheaper option and employed cowboys, out of order and annoying
for me......

modern 'I want it like yesterday' attitudes tbh. If I buy off ebay and it states next day or 48hrs then I usually add a day or 2 tbh to allow for packaging, collection etc. I think the issue is more with the carrier than the seller and I wouldnt leave negative for that as they have responded to comms and actually appear much better than a lot of others on the bay.

Hope you dont win anything I sell as I dont post same day and usually within 2 due to work.... I would have to change address :p

I think what you're saying is fair enough if you state that on an auction listing (I always put on any ebay items I sell when I will likely be able to post for example, so people are clear from the outset), however if the seller is guaranteeing to provide you with the product within 4 days (which was apparently the case here) or has promised a particular delivery method that has a time frame attached to it (in this case 1st class) he is obliged to conform to those promises he has made. It's got nothing to do with 'I want it yesterday' attitudes, it has everything to do with having paid for a service that you haven't received.

Fish has already said that he wanted the club by the weekend and he likely went with that particular seller due to the delivery option and promise, failing which he would probably have used another seller that did provide the desired service (only Fish can confirm that lol!). The point is, he paid for a service that he didn't receive and when confronted about it the seller appears to have spun him a yarn, or come up with other excuses, instead of just saying 'yeh we cocked up, sorry' or offering a postage refund. That alone deserves a negative rating in my book.

So I am with Fish on this one. If I pay for an item and get free packaging, it can turn up in 3 weeks time for all I care as long as it arrives safely - it hasn't cost me anything. If I specifically pay for a fast delivery option because I want a club by a certain date and it turns up a week later, that's simply not good enough and I want a postage refund which, usually, I get.

Have you tried bartering for a postage refund by the way Fish? Tell them if they refund your postage you won't leave them negative feedback .
