i go out, to the pratice range, and chip till im happy with how im striking, same with my other clubs, i score better, than i do if i just show up, stretch and off i go
I think the theory of 'practise before playing' is good, but in reality, I just shank a few and it fills me with doubt & dread before I play, so not for me.
I do like to Chip & Putt a little before playing though, get a feel before playing, and some swings with a club to loosen off, and then good to go.
Mostly......
Sometimes.
I like to hit a dozen or so with 8iron, half a dozen with hybrid then same with whatever I'm going to use off the 1st tee. Bit o' putting for 5 minutes to get green speed & jobs a good'un
I really benefit from practising before a round as it's a confidence thing. I usually can not tell which type of golfer will turn up and my drives have known to go either 230 yards down the middle or a 60 yards nasty duck hook. So a few decent drives on the practice ground as well as a few other decent shots really does increase my confidence.
