The way most people decide on their vote may not match up with the reality, but the actual vote we cast is for the person.

I frikking know that is how it works in reality. We all do and you’ve got your point across.

What I am saying is that it shouldn’t.

If my conservative MP leaves and goes to the Labour Party there is absolutely no way, and I mean no way, they would be elected on a labour ticket in the next election. Pity is that you have to wait for the next election. It will be interesting to see how many of the MP’s that jumped will be re elected on their new ticket?

Can't believe I am the only person that votes for the candidate rather than the party... Since moving to a one party constituency I've only ever voted for independent candidates (in GE's) who don't have a manifesto as such...

Unsurprisingly none of my picks has made it to Westminster... But, if they had, I was confident they would've been the right person to represent my views...

The bit I cannot understand is the ex Tory leader candidate that has gone to the lib dems, and I use democrat very loosely. He stood as a leader elect for a party and country that needs this mess sorting out. He has now gone to a party that now has in it's manifesto " It will cancel Brexit" if it gets in power. How can he honestly be taken seriously along with others. Furthermore how can the lib dems be taken seriously.

The party Gyimah stood for in 2017 is not the same party now. It has got rid of moderates including Gyimah and has become The Brexit Party. In that regard it's totally understandable he's joined another team, was dropped by his own team and taken on a free transfer by another. If voters don't like it they can change that soon enough.
How can the Tories be taken seriously? They have gone through countless ministerial resignations and 3 leaders in just over 3 years, gone from a majority of 30 to -20 at their own behest, elected a divisive untrustworthy buffoon as leader who has lost 6 commons votes in a row and is hated by half the country already.

I would vote Lib Dem before Tory on their present positions. Cons and Labour are unworthy of votes at present.

I sort of agree but also disagree at the same time... yep, I'm on the fence a little. I agree I wouldn't vote for either the Tories or Labour at present. But I don't necessarily agree that the parties have changed in their personnel that much. Each party had its only little section of members/MP's that were/are a little too extreme and, equally, each party had a section of moderate MP's. I'd argue that both parties still has both sections but that the balance is different.

In terms of joining other teams; how can an MP reconcile joining a different party, mid-term, with very different manifesto pledges and policies? How can he/she be seen as credible? If they've had the Whip removed or want to leave their party, I see no reason why the can't remain in Parliament as independents. But I don't agree with them joining another party till the run up to the next GE.

Worryingly, with the Whip being removed from many moderate Tories the party is way off to the right. And with Momentum orchestrating deselection of moderate Labour MP's, politics is very polarised.

But with the LibDems taking such a hard stance on cancelling the referendum result, in effect ignoring the wishes of 17.4m voters, I wonder how many votes they'll attractant how many they'll lose? I think it was over 30% of LibDem voters voted Leave.

As for how I'd vote, if I could. No one would get my vote.

There will soon be more Tory's in the Lib Dems than Lib dems JS was happy to prop up 5 years of Tory Austerity and vote for much of it. so much for an inclusive and fair Soc she keeps sprouing on about

She wasn't in charge back then and I doubt she was happy about austerity. That 5 years in coalition must have given them a bit of a reality check on how hard governing is even if it hurt them in the polls. At least they have a clear message and if ever a middle of the road centrist party was needed It's now. Revoke is just as sensible a brexit option as any of the others. Just a shame many people still vote for parties as if it was their football team, blind loyalty no matter how awfully they play or their results.

I get the bit where the blind loyalty is re voting for your party. But it's not the hardcore loyal supporters that will get Labour, Torys, SNP etc etc in power. It's the floating voters, floating voters like me. You cannot convert the converted. Quite frankly at the moment, they are all a shower of ( insert your own word), The lot of thm.

Yes, but she is only willing to accept the result as long as it's Remain. If Leave win again she won't accept the result.

I don't think she has a snowballs chance in hell of retaining that seat, she seems to have offended all of the other Scottish parties so she can garner favour in England.
We may even get the far right Scottish Tory zoomers [or is that zimmers] tactically voting for the SNP. Mind you there is not many left now
