I've always used the Pw and Sw that came with the set. Never found the need for any more

only problem is now Bob, most sets don't come with a SW anymore, so i can see in the not too distant future not getting a PW either.

its already happened to the 3 iron

Yes I know, manufacturers aren't daft. A set is now 4-Pw for the same price as 3-Sw was. And then you replace the 4 iron with a rescue and add 2 or 3 more wedges that you cant use but look good in the bag under all the headcovers ;)

Don't most sets come with a price per club now? So you can effectively choose how low or high you go? I certainly did that with my Pings, started at 5 iron and went up to SW.

But if you are that way inclined and you feel it will make a difference you could go say 4 to 9 iron then get a specialist set of wedges to ensure your gapping is perfect. But doing that would not have made any difference with my standard of golf, so I got the PW and SW with the rest of the irons..

Question for those who have gone for specialist wedges. With the exception of G1BBO you've all gone for the PW from the iron set. Why is this? Is it because you feel you hit more full shots with that but rarely do with your wedges?

If I'm lucky I might get the chance to change my irons this year and having seen the ICY threads I was wondering what I would do...

Quite simply I needed a 523 degree to fill the distances between my PW and SW and I find most of the SW's that come with a set are chunky and rarely come in too many loft or bounce options and I wanted to have an even gapping.
