Quick question let's just say I'm feeling generous and I'm going to take you out to buy new irons and wedges. I know what a guy. So I give you the choice of getting the pitching wedge to go with your iron set or a pitching wedge to match your wedges.

What do you decide to choose and what am I buying?

I would go with whatever matched the other clubs in the set and then go Vokey wedges for my gap and sand iron

for me match the irons 850 pros and SM5 to replace my 825 pros and SM4

Probably partially a function of the irons, but also how often I tended to change irons.

Personally I have had my 52 through the last 5 sets 9f irons - but this is also a function of the European marketing department not offering gap and sw in sets ( when the US do for the same set)

personally I would go custom fit so not a match to my irons.

My reasons being from 120 in I want to feel confident and being custom fit for my current wedges means I know my distances etc so 1 more = more confidence = less blobs :)

Same but I guess given the difference in abilities my reasoning will be somewhat different too :D

You haven't seen me play recently :D

I've always used blades and as most 'specialised' wedges are 'blade-like' I've found no reason to change them.
I couldn't use the big chunky 'improver' wedges

I had a lob wedge once but gave it away after I stopped using it for spreading butter on toast, they're bloomin lethal (can kill a score on any hole) :)

And these

:D

I prefer my PW to be part of the iron set rather than a specialist wedge. It's generally a club I use for full shots so want it to look and feel like a natural progression from the 9 iron (which is what most modern PWs are in all but name).

I've always liked my wedges to match the other clubs in my set.
I bought my new RS1's 5-SW but have since added the matching gap and 60 degree lob wedge.
Have also added the matching 4 iron 'cos I can't hit a hybrid for toffee.
So that's 10 matching irons in full....

A PW now is just a 9 iron of old (that launches a bit higher).

Going by that logic I would take it.

Also saves me buying MORE clubs, especially if the PW comes at no extra cost as part of the irons.

I see my PW as the "last" of my distance clubs, I rarely full swing my 52 or 56 but I full swing my PW all the time. Its 120 yards with roll, 115 carry.

Yeah I'm a bit different, I use my PW for 5yard carries and up to its full distance and my SW... well for getting out of sand ;)
