I have been playing for 4 months and slowly progressing! I do have a tendency to slice the ball off the tee and do not have the confidence to use the MD Superstrong driver I recently purchased. Do these 'draw' clubs really help?

Deano I know what you mean about slowly progressing I have been at it for a year now, though only playing full size courses since April. I've been taking lessons (about one a month) and am starting to see much improved ball striking. I don't own a Driver and won't get one till December/January at the earliest. I started using a 6iron off the tee, then a 5, then 4 and only the longer holes now use my 3 wood that I am gradually taming.

I've found that lower lofts produce more side spin and accentuate any flaws in your swing, while higher lofts cancel side spin a bit as they produce more backspin. I'd suggest spending the money you would invest on a new driver on some lessons and hopefully that will straighten your ball flight.

Don't worry about using your driver at the moment. Our second longest hole is 515 yards and I have hit GIR on it once. I hit 5 iron, 6 iron, 7 iron. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress. :) :D

*oops just checked my stts

Padraig Harrington says he would ban these clubs as they don't help the club golfer and that they actually hinder their progress.

Why not do the same as Tiger says and get some lessons from a PGA Qualified professional instead?
