after seeing the pro's with their initials etc on their wedge's how many of you's would actually have this done?or have it done already?

i was considering offering this as a service to people if there was enough interest as a good wee earner.

how much would people be willing to pay per wedge for a maximum of 3 letters?

is this just plain silly or a good idea?

feedback appreciated peeps:)

Can't see the point.
I guess the Tour Pro has his done so the Guys in the Tour truck can easily tell whose wedges they're working on.
Can't see another reason for it.

Cleveland do it as an option.

I think the Golf Digest Hot List mentioned that anyone who took up this option wouldn't be welcome in their 4-ball.....:D

vokey were doing it as an option aswell i noticed....surely there must be a reason for offering this, they must think there's a market for it or atleast a lot of people will be interested in it.

why they would say that about their 4 ball is beyond me,it's like footjoys doing this with their golf shoes...people havingtheir intitials etc to the side of the heel.just the same really isn't it?

It is the same. It doesn't make it right !! I can't work out if it is narcissism or just the golfing equivalentof writing your name inside your coat like at school :)

To be honest if postage is involved it would make it cost prohibitive. Stamping a few letters isnt going to be worth more than a couple of quid tops.

I have redone the paintfill on mine, but getting initials stamped is a bit fay for me, not saying i wouldnt, but as i change wedes like i change pants, it would surely affect resale!! :)

Lots of NOOOOOOOOO! But playing devils advocate:

I'd see it more as a thing someone would get done for someone else as a present, so you could offer both the wedge AND initials which you could make more money off. You could definitely market it as a "for the golfer who has everything" gimmick and hope other golfers (say, buying for a club/society special occasion) and more importantly their significant others would bite.

Personally I wouldn't have it done, but if the misses gave me a wedge same as one of my own with my initials on I'd say fair play that's a magic present and the old one is straight on ebay ;-)

Its hitting that target market that's the problem, no harm if you want to take a punt as long as you don't spend the Earth doing it I guess

sounds to me like it's not worth doing then lol!!!

i was expecting more players to go for it tbh,i don't know why but i just did.

i believe the younger generation might go for it more solely for the reason that they are more likely to want what there favourite players have.

having your initials on the wedge for me isn't so pretentious,it's not like your whole name is on there and it could mean something.....something a bit personal for instance,a nickname,or your kids initials etc!!!

i know that bubba watson has a sticker of his wife's name across the top part of his driver shaft...."ange".

that to me is a great idea,i had kind of thought of that as great for a gift idea but not to the extent of what you've said.

the problem with offering wedge's with the option of having them personalised is it would cost more to start off, would be better in the long run though if it did kick off but a bit more risky.

it could be something to look at if the original idea didn't take off......

Do not see a problem with having things like your kids name. My mate has a pair of Myjoys that has Flo on one foot and AJ on the other after his 2 little girls. It could be good for things like prizes. Maybe Captains day winner 2011 on the back of a wedge.

i wouldnt stamp any wedges as it would screw resale value, would you really buy a set of used mizzy wedges with oddsocks on them ;)

on a different note i would be interested to find if anyone could refinish my wedges. i purchased the mpt10 satin black ones and after only a few rounds they looks a wreck where the finish is very soft, if ideally like them hard anodised black again but so they dont wear off.

this is a good point,i think it would only be worth doing if you really thought you'd be keeping your wedges which in today's world isn't very often for most players.i personally keep my clubs for longer solely due to financial reasons...

your selling yourse4lf short mate,i reckon a wedge with oddsocks stamped on it would be worth a fortune lol!!!

Plenty of things like this you need to pay up front, so I would imagine the customer would pay beforehand so you could buy the wedge (there are certainly too many available to have stock).

The idea would be a website where the customer uploads a photo of the back of the wedge in question and the personalisation, you have a page of some example wedges and prices (Say a Vokey = £110- £130 personalised, I'm making up numbers obviously) so they know ballpark, then you get back to them saying "right for that wedge with "CURLS" written on it it'll be £120". They pay on the site and you order/pick up the wedge and get to work, I'm sure there's plenty of sources where you can get it for less than RRP (I know I can!). I was in a national golf chain the other day and what they are charging for Vokeys made my eyes water!

Yes, this is true... " you to can shank from 50 ft like the famous oddsocks "

you could even polish part of the hosle for the "ultimate oddsocks" look.

Mine are personalised from the Titleist day.
Scott the fitter asked if I wanted it and I thought why not, and I have no intention of selling them on!!!
