Well that is an interesting peice - confirms my feelings about him

And cheating and stealing ?!

Read this last week, ends up asking as many questions as it answers and too much hearsay in it for my liking, there again usually no smoke without fire. One things for certain, confirms that Ill be backing him in the World matchplay later in the year

A lot of waffle to get to the point of the article but the two accusations are pretty serious and may well have legal ramifications for the author.

That sounds the sort of book i'd be interested in reading, have got a copy of A Good Walk Spoiled by John Feinstein and a similar inside the ropes book by Chris Lewis from 2006, but if there's a liberal dose of artistic licence i wont bother.

Lot of waffle to get to the point in the original link. No surprise to see Reed come straight out and deny it all. And somewhere in between lies the truth. Is there anything in it? Would the author risk a large lawsuit on the basis of hearsay and rumour. Probably not so I imagine he has something to back his version up. This will run, which won't harm sales (injunctions not withstanding)

life's too short to read all that, lost interest after the first couple of lines, can some one summarise for me???

Nobody likes him because he’s superior and wasn’t afraid to let them know. Some stuff got stolen and he had cash so they figured he stole it. He was about to play the wrong ball, it was pointed out and they accused him of cheating. He had a few brewskis, a couple of times. He has family problems which means he must be the devil incarnate. Mainly though, he’s superior and isn’t afraid to act like it so people don’t like him.

Except me. I like him.

If you look deep enough I suspect 99% of us has a checkered past.
You wouldn't have to look deep to find mine.
It was not proven at the time so it wont be now.
Move on people nothing to see here.

Interesting read, but I'm pretty sure there are a lot of stories like that with any top athletes/sportsmen.

Does make me wonder - You know they have their practise rounds before tournaments - does he go out alone or does he go out with a rookie as no one other pro wants to share his company? I am sure that he does not care what others think of him on the tour, he just want to win.

You are not a celebrity, yet. If you were, your chequered past might get some sunlight shone on it.

Reed has a choice to make here, and I think the wise move would be to put as much of this behind him as possible using the I was young, I was stupid defence. Otherwise the hunt will go on and US college golf is watched by lots of people, recorded by the media and evidence will emerge if it exists. Reed's legal defence may be possible, but may not be wise. In this internet age, all this stuff eventually emerges, and Sod's law says that it will do so at a time of maximal inconvenience.

There doesn't seem to be much of a denial in the statement...

"They will not be taken lightly. My team and my representatives are looking into all aspects of this matter, and we look forward to setting the record straight".

I don't really like the guy but he's a seriously impressive golfer and he's what the US need in the Ryder Cup.

He's obviously a bit of a tit. Has rubbed people the wrong way his whole life it seems, but man he's one hell of a golfer. 6-0 in the NCAA Champs against guys like Ulhein, and Harris English is seriously impressive. He's a winner. It's just a shame he'll never be a respected one. He's never going to be held in the same regard as McIlroy, and Spieth who not only have exceptional ability, but portray themselves in the way that a professional sportsman should. He's exactly what the US need in the Ryder Cup though, a proper winner.

I put Reed alongside players like Wadkins and Leonard - complete tools

Reading that article and I can't help but think John Daley, except that Reed is a far greater talent but that's the type of character being described. Perhaps that's also unfair on John Daley but you know what I mean. The references to his youthful drinking sessions are however, lame at best. Who didn't do that!!

All sports need a 'baddie' - if anything that piece only makes me want to watch him more for the positives and negatives he may bring. Makes for better viewing.

Bit harsh, JD has a couple of majors so would say he had plenty of talent.
