Just bumped into one of the lads in ASDA who was with his wife. She is upset coz her African Grey Parrot has died. Had it 20 years. Bloke told me when they got it home from Birmingham it spoke in Punjabi. Spent the first couple of years teaching it English. She is upset but I had to laugh.

I had a parrot that used to swear like a trooper when the Vicar came to tea so I taught him a lesson by putting him in the freezer for 15 minutes. When he came out he said to me "Socket! I will never be a bad boy again and while we are having this chat can you tell me what that Chicken in there did to annoy you"

SB anyone who likes Monty python will immediately smile and start reciting half the sketch, if you mention a dead parrot, , same as if you come across the word “Lumberjack” or “Spanish inquisition “ and if ever I’m offered Camembert, I always ask if it is runny.

The lady’s recently departed African Grey is unfortunate, just glad it wasn’t a Norwegian Blue.

If any of these references go over your head and splat against a wall, then look up the sketch in the 3 Rd post and the other sketches are also on YouTube
Enjoy

I’m not a pet person so I understand the owner/pet relationship less than most so this probably needs a bit of explaination.

The way her husband was explaining that the parrot spoke Punjabi, he was laughing about it be bilingual. I was a bit took back that she was upset but after 20 yrs they were remembering the fun times with the parrot. I suppose it was like when a family member passs away and you remember the the good times.
