Each year I organise a competition that runs over the course of the summer for our society and I have started planning next years, always trying to make it a bit better than the previous years.

I am looking for suggestions for good Par 3 courses, anywhere in the UK. Looking to try and have a Par 3 Contest prior to the final round. Idea being we would all go out and have a bit of fun, head for a spot of lunch and then have the final round of the season in the afternoon.

Thanks in advance.

Ramsdale Park, north of Nottingham, has an excellent 18-hole par 3 course which is very well maintained with a nice variety of holes.

For me if you organise a golf trip and want to include a 9 hole course then get up to Blairgowrie. Great set up and play one of the other courses their too. On the same train of thought Formby Hall has a good nine hole course as Odvan said. Then you can play Formby Hall golf club also. Plus, if you fancy pushing the boat out Formby Golf Club just down the road could be the main event.

Plus one for Formby Hall.... they have a replica of then17th at sawgrass as well... main course ain't too shabby either... right on the North West Gold Coast of golf so plenty of top options...

Another plus 1 for ramsdale park, great variety yardage wise. Only thing I'd say that let's it down is it doesn't have any shots over water, so nothing in the way of hazards bar bunkers. Can't comment on the condition of the greens though as it's atleast 3 months since I last played it.

Ampfield near Southampton in Hampshire is an excellent 18 hole par 3 that has held various pro comps.

Not sure if I understand your final round comment but you could play Chilworth Golf Club, a normal golf course as your final around ten to fifteen minutes away and very friendly to societies.

Played Ampfield recently. Nice course and I enjoyed it but, after a decent start, there are too many short holes under 100 yards on the back nine. Fair enough for one or two but five on the course is a few too many for me.

Ampfield near Romsey in Hampshire is a dedicated 18 hole par 3 course. Very good, the last time I played there
