One of the very few courses the wife said afterwards she liked. Must be awesome! We played Northcliffe Golf Club on the way to York the other year. Really enjoyed it and everyone we met was very friendly.

Hardly a hidden gemRotherham is excellent! Greens are like putting on glass.
Nor is this a hidden gemHillsborough might be worth a look, very enjoyable, and I have to agree with Crazyface, Rotherham was a pleasure to visit, although it was some years ago for both courses.
I just meant you'll struggle to find a more hidden gem than Bondhay.Close it. Threads like these are brilliant for putting together a mini trip. Absorb the advice, store the names away for a future time. I'd never even heard of Bondhay before

How about we acknowledge the fine example given, although as I haven't played it I'm slightly wary of that as it could be rubbish stillI just meant you'll struggle to find a more hidden gem than Bondhay.
And the fact you've not heard of it is proof positive.
Now close the thread.![]()

Holme Hall is nice enough.Played Elsham many years ago - can't remember a lot about it.
I bought a 4 ball at Holme Hall in our Seniors Christmas charity auction.
Holme Hall is nice enough.
If you're coming over from Leeds then Brough and Hessle are always in excellent condition (weather dependent). Hessle has challenging greens, Brough is a short, tight, very well manicured course that is better played during a dry spell.
I think Hessle is the venue for Yorkshire Junior Team Championship this year, I’ve heard it’s quality - the lad will be looking forward to playing it if he’s selected.
Beverley is a really quirky course, laid out on common land with greens roped off to stop cattle going on. You have to contend with public appearing out of nowhere, I came across a family having a picnic in a grassy hollow just in front of one of the greens on a long par 4, I had no clue they were there until they stood up after my approach landed short and rolled through themI think Hessle is the best course around Hull. I can vaguely remember playing Beverley a long time ago and enjoying the day but, in truth, I can’t remember a single hole.

Thanks all for the further suggestions.
Going with a short list of the following to start with:
Bondhay
Cavendish
Worksop
Ripon
Skipton
Crossland Heath
Halifax West End
I fancy Beverley but my PP doesn't do quirky! We need to have a conversation about that one !
Think I might also try squeeze in Forest Pines. Must be 15 years since I played there.
Right, off to see what Golf Empire can deliver.
