Palmares and Silves. Algarve Anyone played them?

TerryA May I recommend Chrissy's place in Lagoa Best Lobster on the Algarve... We were over playing and went to see the last day of the Portuguese Open at Penina, before we went I phones Chrissy,s up and asked to book a table, She said they were closed on a sunday BUT for 8 lobsters they would open just for us... Thats customer service...

Well sat here in me speedos and crocs at vilamoura marina in the sunshiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiie.played faldo course and although it looks gorgeous thought it plays mickey mouse. Playing Pinhal tomorrow coz the first tee is 200 yd from Partment and Palmares on Monday.
Vilamoura has to be the golfing capital of the world. It is rammed with with golfers.

First and foremost thanks for all the advice boys and a quick rundown on the courses.
Faldo, I just did not get it at all, far to many bunkers and how smacking a ball straight down the middle rewards you with a ball in the bunker has yet to be explained to me. Fortunately Faldo will be remembered for his golfing prowess and not his course design. Why he would put his name to that is beyond me £,s perhaps.
Pinhal, played it as a last minute decision coz it was on the doorstep and loved it, for the amount of traffic it has on it, it was in good nic compared to Faldo, which at times looked scabby. Oh ah got a lovely birdie on there.
Palmares, oh Lordy Lordy where to start, it was gorgeous, just gorgeous. Holes number four and seventeen are two of my most favourite holes I have ever played and I blobbed the fourth and one pointed the 17th. The views from both holes are amazing but the views of the holes are just jaw dropping. no two holes are the same, it is a fantastic experience from start to finish. Tash will deffo be back. Bloody watch went into meltdown coz it could not recognise the 3 X 9 hole setup. For €84 twilight rate inc buggy to tee off at 14.10 was a steal. Got my second birdie of the week on the third and Missis T missed it talking rubbish whilst bonding with Greta from Germany. My driving on the three courses was just fantastic and on the tenth I smashed my drive, I had a 90 yd pitch onto the green. It rolled 2mm past hole and finished 2 ft away for a nailed on birdie. Peter a German PP for the round, walked up to his ball which was 10 yd in front of mine and said in a kind German way.
" Tash you T*+T you have just played my ball". I could of cried. Third nailed on birdie of the week was a bloody bogey. Palmares a big bless ya love ya squeeze ya from Tash.
On the way back from Palmares to Vilamoura, Missis T pointed out that on there motorways, you are not allowed to according to signage.
A, walk on them.
B, take your wheel barrow on them.
C, take your bicycle on them.
D, take your cow on them.

Fantastic times.

Ponte Romana (Roman Bridge). It's on the turning into Silves. Or if you park in the twon , cross the old roman bridge and its on your left. It a huge building and the entrance is a small little covered door. go down the steps and turn right at the bottom and there it is. You'll love it !!!! Go for the Cataplana. A bit messy but worth the effort. yum yum !!!

Palmares is a stunning links course, very tough when the wind blows but a real beauty of a course. It has gorse and even a railway line through the middle of it, so it's like a British links but in the sun.

Vilamoura Old is also very good. Alongside San Lorenzo and Quinta do Lago North, it's probably my favourite Algarve course.

I haven't played Silves but I don't think it's up there with the best Algarve courses.

At Amondoeira, the O'Connor is a fun course, and the abundance of water hazards will test your ball striking and course management. I'm not so keen on the Faldo Course though.
