As others…Our halfway house is between our 5th and 11th greens. There are signs at the 5th and 11th tees saying we can call in an order…but calls only…no text messages. We do ‘clubhouse order‘ only for 19th hole food and drink.

I remember speaking to a steward in a club this year at some point, can't remember where. Their mantra for golf club food was that it had to be on the table within 10 minutes of it being ordered. That was the length of time a golfer would accept. Beyond that, patience was gone, they got grumpy and started to moan. Items that took longer than 10 minutes were rarely ordered a second time by people. I smiled but realised that sounded about right. On that basis there is no great need to order in advance whilst still out on the course.

I occasionally play at courses that have a half way hut and most tend to get you to order at the hole before in order to keep things moving fairly smoothly. That works well.

Nice concept, good question but I suspect that for most courses it would be unnecessary. I can see at some of the popular hotel courses, where it is rammed, there could be a market but for most private clubs it would be largely unused.

cant say i agree

have ordered food in plenty of golf clubs that cant be prepared and cooked in 10 minutes, as I would in almost every other place I would order food, never complained or moaned about how long it takes as if they can magic it up quicker than other restaurants can

the only caveat to that is ordering food before a round if i felt time was on the tight side Id explain that when ordering that I needed it fast and check that was possible

My ordering in golf clubs rarely gets a bacon butty or a toastie and chips (very rare) so I am not particularly well versed on that front. I'm going on what the steward told me and then me looking at what golfers eat post round since the comment was made. I have not yet seen anyone order anything overly sophisticated that would take time. Obviously that will be different at different clubs but I haven't played anywhere this year where the theory would be disproved. It was not an absolute statement, there will always be differences.

When I was in Spain a while ago, the staff used to come round in buggies selling sandwiches and drinks, they were very popular, especially on hot days.

When I was a member at a club in Florida we had college girls (invariably tanned & pretty) running the buggies and we also had computers in our own buggies to order post round food/drinks, I won't say which one I preferred ;)

I think the idea of having a QR code that pulls up ‘today’s offerings at the HWH’ is actually not a bad idea. But the truth is - looking at my place - that could just as easy being a laminated A4 sheet with the notice by the appropriate tees - and other than Soup of the Day it doesn’t change.

I've been using a similar system for a few years. After I've put the gear in the boot, I take the phone out of the glove compartment where it has been for the entire round, phone Mrs V and say, "I'm about to leave, you can start getting the meal ready!"

I do similar......as does Donna when she's playing and I'm at home!

I've played at plenty of places with phones on 18th tee..never used it. Although similar on 9th tee for halfway house has been used. Speeds up order!!
