Opens and Prizes

Unfortunately you cannot take any format where you sign your own card seriously. 4 man teams and scrambles are just fun, the cheats have spoilt it for everyone else. Even in pairs opens players from the same club should be put into different groups.

99% of the entries play fair and with integrity and respect for the comp and the game

4 man comps are very good and it does require trust

it’s a sport that’s supposed to built on that trust so don’t punish everyone based on the actions of the minority
99% of entries play fair.

The other 1% are the winners of the comps, who the other 99% like to assume have cheated :ROFLMAO:

I tried to book myself & partner, plus 2 other mates to The Wilmslow senior Open . Unfortunately they wouldn’t allow it , we had to play in separate tee slots .. I didn’t bother booking , we just want to play together and experience new courses together. Not interested in prizes .

That’s why most of us play in Opens

We had 12 go to Porthcawl and it was great fun

Previously we have had the same number go to the likes of Pennard or Minchhampton

Out of interest. Now that the four golfers have been publicly named on this thread, and that there has been a strong accusation that they cheated by the OP (on what might be the biggest golf forum in the UK?), can this be considered libelous?
Probably. Have you taken a screenshot of it all as evidence ;)

Gonna go with yes since mods have just deleted it all. 😂

"Prizes and Prize Vouchers can be claimed by competitors with a "Full Handicap Record" containing a minimum of SIX Singles Competition Scorecards."

Taken from Lancaster Golf Club website. It's a start, but it prevents us from playing. I like playing there as well.

What does a full handicap record mean?

I'm assuming they mean a record that contains a minimum of 20 scores? But, what if the full handicap record contains 500 scores with 6 Competition scores. You probably wouldn't need to be a good barrister to argue that you should be eligible based on the wording of that condition?

It only restricts who can collect a prize; why would it prevent you from playing?

Oh I see what your saying. It doesn't state words to the effect of, in the last 12 months.

They don’t do that for club comps where someone isn’t eligible

If you aren’t playing for the prize then it doesn’t matter
That's a bit black and white. Yes I agree, but would you just shrug your shoulders if you won but could not collect the prize? And lets not forget, these can be substantial.

Saw that coming. If it was our day and we finished in the prizes we couldn't collect, so that would put a downer on the day. We've already been shafted on other days.
If you enter knowing you're ineligible for prizes, why would it bother you?
If being eligible for prizes is important, what is preventing you from playing a few individual comps to meet the criteria?
