Hi all, new to all this.

Looking at getting some new clubs but can't decide between the Nike and the Callaway.

In honesty I am more a beginner than anything but would like a decent set of clubs as looking to play on a regular basis.

The Nike are slightly cheaper but both have good reviews.

Has anybody any experience of either? Or could recommend a good place to buy them? I have found the X22 for £200 but am wary that they are fake.

Thanks in advance.

I would highly recommend the X22 but you have to pick what feels or works best for you, go somewhere that has them both and try them.

The Callaway X16,18,20 & 22 were all highly recommended and sought after rather like the Ping G5,10,15 & 20.

I have not looked at prices of old irons for a while but I would guess that at £200 they would be fake. Check American Golf and you may see them advertised £30 or £40 cheaper somewhere else maybe. It will give you a guide price.

Go with the Callaways.

More forgiving and better resale prospects.

The machspeed irons weren't even as forgiving as the "ignite" series all those years ago.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. I do think I prefer the Callaways. I am going to American Golf on the weekend to try them both out. AG have got them priced at £329 which is still a good price I think. They also do price match so might be able to get some money off.

Have hit both extensivly. The X22's are exactly the same as all the X range. Stupidly easy to hit, forgiving and to me they look good. I have a machspeed ex demo iron with a DG HL R300 shaft that I brought for a fiver when I left my clubs at home. The head is a lot smaller than the X22 so may not inspire confidence when you stand over a shot. They are still very forgiving though and neither would be a terrible choice. Demo both and see what works fo you.

my usual shop ere in ni was selling the x22's brand new for £250, i think they were dropped from £280, i tried them, very nice feel but unfortunitly the shafts were to whippy for me, so tried a set of x-18s, 2nd hand in immaculate condition, steel shafts, and bought them best irons ive hit £190 2nd hand, callaway all the way :)

Yeah £329 seems like a great price to me. Looking forward to trying them out on the weekend.

Seem a bit pricey to me. Ok I know these are Lefty's but on Lefthandedgolf. They have them from £190-£290. with a free wedge, depending on the set you want. Ok great if your a lefty like me. But maybe you could use to price match?
