Hi All,

I'm a newbie to the forum and I'm really struggling with my chipping. I've had so many lessons over the years, I should be a chipping God, but I estimate I loose between 6 and 10 shots per round because of my chipping troubles sometimes more. Everything else works fine, but as soon as I get that wedge in my hand, a good game can go badly wrong.

HELP:(

When my pro stands next to me, it all seems to work OK ish, but as soon as I get out on the course, it's like someones swapped my wedge for a broom handle

Yo Harvey. There are two elements to chipping for me: the stroke and the 'feel' (for want if a better word). The stroke is all about good connection not fat not thin nice and crisp. The 'feel' is about how long your swing is and which club to use. Now I used to struggle with the first bit till I saw this article and related video:

I am now much, much better at the stroke bit, especially when I keep my focus on the ball/divot till after the ball has gone. No so consistently good at the feel part but that's down to practice and experience! :D I hope the video helps
