I have just watched the news and wondered why in this day and age children are being asked to go to schools that are falling down round about them.
Why is it that if they tried to put criminals etc in these buildings they would not be allowed.
There are plenty of builders that are out of work and youngsters that cannot find work. Why not get a program in place and get youngsters a trade instead of bringing in labour from abroad.

they've all protested against it today, i've got my own business and i've struggled my arse of over the last 15 months. At the minute I'm starting to see light at the end of the tunnel but I've very very concerned about a double dip with all the cost cutting. I voted for this lot but I now think it;s too much too quick.

In the words of dads army "we're doomed, we're all doomed laddy"

Because the last government hocked us upto the eyeballs to pay for 10,000 Titleist ProV1's with "department of trade & industry" on them amongst other wastes of public money.

Got a link for this Jon?

It was in the daily mail in the run up to the general election where they were itemising government extravagance.

I will endeavor to find a link for this.

Just done the math and that only works out at £14.44 a dozen. Cheap as chips for ProV1's.
I'll have some of those if they are going cheap
:D

In the last couple of years i have worked in over a dozen new schools,at this moment i am working in a new primary in Clydebank, a fortnight ago i was working in a new one in Carluke,so there are plenty of Schools being built. (my youngest daughters school opened 2 years ago)

Different on our side of the border. Local Authorities can and will end up paying through the nose for the next 25 years for all these nice new vastly over engineered and spec'd schools that have been build under PPP/PFI.

Oh the joys of a devolved scottish parliament and it's decision making powers.

Why can't we have a "formula" school, simple functional design that can be run out all over the country. Bit like they did all those years ago in the 1920s, you know, the sort of building that needs replacing now. Simple design and then roll it out.

Don't need all the fanncy easthetics and architectural wonders we have now, they're schools for crying out loud !

We've got a fantastic new high school being built in Bexhill to take the place of the current two dilapitated buildings they currently use.
Really does look good, very futuristic building, and my two boys are going to benefit.
