New clubs or no clubs for 2025?

Waiting for my new irons to arrive. No plans to change driver or hybrids.

I'm 40 next month and depending on how much money I get, I am very tempted to go for a proper putting fitting and see what comes of it, possibly even have a flirt with the LAB range, we shall see....

Maybe have a look at new irons, but they'll be a retirement gift to myself in December. Can't see beyond the Mizuno JPX925 Forged.
I'm the meantime, happy switching between my 2013 JPX EZ Forged and JPX921 Tour.
Don't need a new driver. The Ping G400 and TM Stealth 2 are rotating nicely.
Ping Glide 4 Eye2 sand wedge is irreplaceable, as is the ZB3 Heppler putter.

Of course there will be a difference. I went from a 2016 set to a 2022 set and they were pretty much a whole club longer. And that's only a six year gap. Plus the shafts were similar as I stuck with Callaway and got pretty much the upgrade on the old set.

That's bad reply to get.... almost guaranteed to make me part with my money!

Out of interest, did it make any difference to your scores / stats going into greens a club less?

Possibly new wedges this year.

Until I get someclub speed back I won't be getting a new driver. I need to work out a bit but that means not being lazy. So far this hasn't been happening and I'm getting noticeably slower.

I500 irons are going nowhere and my woods and hybrid are old dependables.
Spider putter only went in last year so that won't change.

So boring these days. I used to change my clubs more than my socks. 😞

No to "new clubs."

No to "no clubs".

Last year I bought 49 clubs and sold 54 clubs.
Bought 5 bags and sold 2 bags.
Somewhere over £50 to the good as a result.
Parted with a driver to IanM and a putter to Crow as gifts.
Had a very good year.

Hoping to do something very similar this year.

5 bags in same year seems a lot? 😃

I was buying their contents primarily.
eg: Set of Ping Eye2 BeCu 3-SW came in a Ping white tour bag. £40 the lot. Slazenger Eaglet putter included.
Most recent joblot purchase included two bags, Mizuno and Wilson, but got a set of Maxfli Australian Blades DP30 3-SW. £17.50 the lot. Wilson 1-iron included. And a full set of Regal clubs that I am giving to my local LOROS shop.
Some bags make useful storage facilities in the loft. Others find their way onto the course occasionally or back on Ebay.
As I indicated - £££s sales exceeded £££s purchases last year - so quite happy.

One of my stated goals for 2025 is 'no new clubs' (that includes used new clubs). I rebuilt my bag end of 2024. But it's a challenge, because I know that my driver has way too much loft (15 degrees!!) so it's tempting to go shopping again...

It's not the clubs I need to change, it's the thing at the other end holding them...

But since that is not possible, I might be in the market for a new driver, since I currently have an ancient R7. Unlikely to be this years models, maybe a stealth or paradym ai smoke at what I hope will be a more sensible price. Irons, hybrids and fairways woods all much newer so I can't really blame my lousy golf on them.

Where did you come across a set of BeCu Eye 2s for £40? Would love to make a discovery like that but they're usually >£200 on eBay.

Changed pretty much everything about 15 months ago so no plans to replace anything for a few years
The only thing I have an eye open for is a small headed hybrid for shots out the 1st cut when its lush/thick, don't need it for covering any distance from fairway lie, just out the rough so I don't have to drop to a lower iron

Did not want to start a new thread.

I need a new putter. Mallet as my putting is terrible. No idea what to buy. Anybody any ideas for a high handicapper.

Probably go to where I went last week, Carus Green GC, for. a putting fitting. Always had PING but these Odyssey look appealing, the price does not!

Definitely get a fitting and try as many as you can till you find the one that feels right, so many lovely putters these days from a million different brands.

New GT3 driver after a fitting @ Titleist yesterday and a new 50° Vokey will see me right for this season.

The fitting at Titleist was easily the best one I've attended, spent nearly 1.5 hours getting the settings, head and shaft right. Even as a low handicap, I was pretty amazed by the difference moving and changing the weights can have on strike, dispersion and spin.
