Hi guys, half looking for a new set of irons. Been playing over a year and making steady process, having lessons which are going great but half tempted to buy a new set of clubs. Got a set of Ram lasers, which do me fine but fancy a change. Got about £250 tops to spend and have seen the TM Burner Superlaunch graphites for £229 and some Nike Slingshots steel irons for the same price from my local pro shop. Noticed similar priced sets but wondered if you have any thoughts or recommendations.

Hi how old are you and are you in good health? also are you wanting new or would you look at 2nd hand?

How is your ball striking? do you have a handicap?

Ive recently upgraded from slingshots. Found them great, very very easy to hit and ridiculously forgiving.
Note i paid £99 for my slingshots (5-PW) brand new but you can get those deals as a leftie every now and then.

Mate is new to game and has the superlaunches and improved his game lots. He didnt have handicap before getting them but was playing to about 28ish. After month or so with these he put his three cards in and got given 20.

Go have a hit with both and see which feels best. Nikes are pretty chunky but i liked them

35 and yes good health, don't have a handicap, would prefer new and my ball striking is getting better. Been correcting my swing as my ball normally curves right, had a lesson last night and was striking it alot straighter and longer (5 iron 140/150 yards).

Ill be corrected if I am wrong but my understanding is that graphite shafts in irons are for the older or weaker player.

Burner Superlaunch are a great super game improver iron that launch the ball high, They can still be picked up cheep with a steel shaft. If you like the look of them it would be an option for you with your budget.

Plenty of decent 'game improver' clubs out there for reasonable money (£300-400) Best bet really is to try out a few at your local range, if you stick to the bigger brands like Mizuno, TM, Callaway and Ping you will always be able to get some money back on them when you are ready to change again.

Pings are very easy to hit and I've heard very good things about Mizuno JPX irons.

I just bought myself Nike SQ Machspeed Irons (4I-PW) for £250 from american golf and can't recommend them highly enough for forgiveness.

I started a year ago, bought some Ping G15 irons, tried a few at ag first, presently hitting 7 iron 150-160 yrds.Im sure that their will be some second hand pings on the market.

Can't recommend Mizuno MX 19's highly enough for high handicappers, can pick them up for a great price. Paid £130 for mine 3-SW
